notes

Charly is a multi-faceted artist, holding her own as vocalist, keyboard player, songwriter and bandleader. She is the sole composer and lyricist of all 12 songs on her debut CD, HEART's DESIRE and also co-produced the album. Songs from the CD have received radio airplay on over 200 stations across the U.S. and overseas.

Unaffected and easy to listen to, yet passionate and convincing, Charly's style is melodic, hooky and decidedly country, with influences of rock, blues and R&B readily detectible. Her songs reflect the realities of city life, while maintaining a country sensibility. Often social-themed, always matter-of-fact, Charly's songs allow the listener to draw his/her own conclusions.

The songs are primarily upbeat and have a refreshing diversity from one song to the next. Styles range from the bluegrass-with-a-modern-edge title cut, "Heart's Desire"; to the bluesy, R&B flavored ballad, "Since You Went Away"; to the brooding, groove-laden, "Turnip Truck".

The lyrical content ranges from provocative topics such as drugs ("Society Owes Her a Living"), domestic violence ("One Fine Day"), and the plight of the single parent ("Single Parent Home"). But it's not all serious! On the lighter side is a story song about divorce ("Ain't Askin' for Much"), a ditty about shopaholics ("Shop Til You Drop") and a call to dancers and honky tonkers to come "Dancin' Tonight".

I think it has a great vibe and fresh feel to it. The vocals are warm and the music is top shelf.

This is one of the few CD's I have that I like all the songs on it. The songs on this CD are among my favorites. My very favorites on Heart's Desire are: Heart's Desire, Is It Too Late?, One Fine Day, and Gone Like The Wind.

We checked out your Heart's Desire CD. Excellent songwriting about real life, and very appealing vocals with rich harmonies make this a very enjoyable CD. Cool intro on Turnip Truck and nice groove on this tune.

  • Wonderfull songs with a country flavor
    author: David

Charly has a nice collection of original songs in the Country tradition. Many of the songs have a famaliar "sound" to them, but Charly expertly uses compositional styles in her own way. The lyrics are original, and often clever. Arrangements are very professionally done with good balance and thoughtfull instrumentation. The young lady does not get the attention she deserves in the "big league."

  • A really good album!
    author: Lloyd Morris

Charly has a very good voice and does a fine singing job on this album. I think the best tracks are Heart's Desire, Turnip Truck, Before the Lights Go Down, Is It Too Late?, and the traditional sounding Dancin' Tonight. But in my opinion, the very best track is Since You Went Away, which really showcases Charly's voice in the very best manner, showing good range with a wonderful smooth warmth that sits easy on the ear. It is noteworthy that she wrote all the songs on this album. I can't wait to hear the next album.
