[ABOUT THIS EP]
TERROREYES: The Demos is a limited release featuring re-mastered demo tracks of three fan favorites - "ZANN," "THE DEVILS" and "FAIRYTALE," as well as the Halloween club hit "FANTOMATIQUE" as a bonus track EXCLUSIVE TO THIS CD. The inner sleeve is also autographed by NiNi and G9 of Corvo.
[THE LONGER BIO]
A strong European aesthetic combined with a passion for Gothic imagery, art and storytelling led CORVO to adopt the raven as their dark totem. Their name is derived from the Italian word for raven or crow.
Drawing from a diverse range of influences such as female-fronted metal [THE GATHERING, LACUNA COIL], progressive rock [GOBLIN, ROXY MUSIC], new wave [THE CURE, SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES], underground dance and industrial [SKINNY PUPPY, NINE INCH NAILS] and pioneering electronic composers [VANGELIS, TANGERINE DREAM], CORVO integrates and fuses these styles with operatic flourishes in a traditional rock context.
The heart of CORVO is the male/female duo of G9 [instruments] and NiNi [vocals, lyrics]. With years of professional experience in a variety of musical genres - including opera, jazz and pop - NiNi brings an expansive vocal range and unique dramatic flair to CORVO's body of work. G9's background in symphony orchestra, jazz piano and avant-garde electronic rock provides the canvas for NiNi's lyrical storytelling style. Their mutual love for macabre imagery and a sinister sense of humor infuse the CORVO sound with all the colors of darkness.
This marriage of beauty and horror, electronic and organic, classical and experimental, appeals to more than just Gothic metal and industrial music fans; it speaks to the diversity of individuals who experience the same love affair with the macabre.
CORVO is currently in the studio working on their first full-length CD "Telltale," planned for release in 2007.

A 20-minute and 40-second journey through a phantom rave club!!
author: Pamela TorresAlthough I do not possess in my collection any albums by either Lacuna Coil or Evanescence, I already know that Corvo's "TerrorEyes" demo is perfect for fans of those two groups. Both decadent and melancholy, the four tracks on this CD juxtapose soul-crushing guitar riffs and sighing violin strings with the pulsating beats of retro electronica (as well as the occasional piano and church organ). Nina's vocals are those of a poison ivy muse, as they soar over every song in gorgeous black-winged mourning. In my opinion, the mysterious nature of "TerrorEyes" can be the perfect accompaniment for a Dario Argento movie, which is no surprise since both Nini and G9 have such a love for the horror genre. Undoubtedly, this EP will whet a listener's appetite for the dastardly duo's first LP, which will be unleashed sometime in 2007. As for me, I will definitely keep my cold, bony fingers crossed on this one!

Comprised of the enchanting NiNi (vocals), and the mysterious G9, (fx, programming) Corvo serve an enticing, addicting blend of dark, operatic, Industrial rock that makes you beg for more. "Corvo", being the Italian word for "raven," sums up what this band is all about. They don't repeat what's been done before. They draw upon a variety of influences, and they produce deep, atmospheric music that you can really immerse yourself into. The 4 track demo opens with Zann, a lulling, ethereal piece with varied sounds and soaring vocals. "The Devils" has a more climactic tone, reinforcing the cinematic tendencies that the entire CD has. NiNi's vocals flow and complement each track, very professional in sound and production. The lyrics, "who's that winged man sitting on my breast caving in my chest sucking out my breath?" Further illustrates the band's ability to use lyrics well, lyrics that really work with the sound. The final track, "Fantomatique", is impressive, (and also my personal favorite). It fits in well for the dance-floor crowd, laced with horrific screams and whispers. It brings back an old Industrial feel, yet it's updated with a fresh arrangement and vocal style. This is THE band to watch, as they will definitely satisfy any cravings that they've created, when they release their highly-anticipated full-length later on this year.

author: Glasswerk National [Steven Hurst]US based Corvo are entering the arena with their own brand of gothic rock. These four tracks deviate from the norm and are essentially experimental music. Lead singer Nini seems to bring more of a Burlesque side to proceedings, her voice wavering at some points and strongly operatic in others. Certainly something Nightwish fans might get a kick from. The songs individually do still have a raw feel to them and may be in need of some fine sound tuning, but fundamentally are intact as pieces of work. ‘Zann’ in all of its trippy gothic proceedings goes from blurry surrealism to an epic draw out at the end. ‘The Devils’ is probably the most intact as a straightforward format for a song. ‘Fairytale’ is probably the highlight though – and like ‘Zann’ starts out on one foot to change at the end – here becoming a dark tale of electronica. Noise man, G9 takes over full time duties in ‘Fantomatique’ and continues the bands electronic aspirations. It is certainly the most experimental track yet – again bringing the listener further into Corvo’s horror ride of terror. It is for the large part an instrumental track and also the longest. This is a very interesting beginning for new band Corvo – and there is a crowd out there waiting on them to provide something different.

CORVO may be new as a band, but it's obvious that the two members, NiNi and G9, already have vast musical experience, as the demos on this CD don't fall short in any way. The vocals are beautiful, the compositions are compelling, and the lyrics have a poetic storytelling quality to them that keeps the listener intrigued. Although it's a short teaser, it's worth it even if just for "Fantomatique" - this CD's exclusive track, which is a dance treat for the horror-minded. I'll warn you, it's going to leave you craving more, but you'll enjoy your time in their world.
Haunting Gothic Metal...

The CD doesn't stop it's wonderfully dark and haunting melodic flow until the last note of Fantomatique. These are beautifully produced demos. I highly recommend this CD.
