notes
The Cracker Cats are three dynamic and entertaining young women from Saskatoon, who are making something new out of something old.
Together, the Cracker Cats create a unique roots sound, encompassing elements of country, bluegrass, blues and folk with gypsy soul. From hard-hitting and fast-paced, to slow-winding and melodic, the space they create becomes a melting pot as the music drives and affects listeners. Their high-energy, rowdy and passionate performances are full of fire, with fingers flying and tight interwoven harmonies.
These modern day gypsies provide a tasteful offering of traditional roots music, while proudly bringing a “Saskatchewanness” to the music they perform. Their musical talent, physical glow, and infectious energy will surely capture your hearts and keep you on your feet for a boot stompin’ good ol’ time.
Since 2004, Kamila, with her smoky vocals and rippin’ mandolin; Melissa, known for her sweet singing and straight giver guitar; and Eliza, the bang twangin’ banjo star and story-singer; have been kickin’ and causin’ trouble, travelling and trading songs, tearing up stages, and winning over the hearts of fans everywhere that they go.
The Cracker Cats have performed throughout Canada and Europe. With over 100 performances, they have played key festivals all over Canada including the Regina Folk Festival, the South Country Fair, Edge of the World, Trout Forest Music Festival, and headlining at the Smithers Midsummer Music Festival in 2006.
Their first CD, Empty Bottles N' Broken Hearts, was released in 2004 and has sold over 2200 copies. This album shot to #28 on Earshot's national campus and community radio report in Canada. The second CD, Livin' on the Run, was released in 2005 and has sold over 1700 copies finding it’s way into the homes of fans from Spain, the UK, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, France, Canada and the US.

Fookin' fantastic like!
author: Mark BonattiReally bloody good! I've been listening to this album and its counterpart almost non-stop since I recieved them (really quickly) in the post. A surefire booze fuelled fun fest if ever I heard one! Although on closer listen it's can be very thoughtful and the last track is lovely. I heartily recommend it and am currently trying to spread the word throughout Glasgow. Keep on Crackin' y'all.
