notes
Produced by Neilson Hubbard and featuring guest appearances by Garrison Starr, Ross Rice and former members of Big Star, among others, Another Vivid Scene soars higher than crash into june's debut CD (1999's From Blind to Blue, which MOJO magazine called "a highly impressive debut") and evokes a far broader, decidedly more mature range of emotions.
From the edgy, sarcastic tirade "Adorable" ("Check your head, it must be clouded / Do you know how bad it sounded / You're so vain and, oh, so horrible") to the pensive lament "Read Me Wrong" ("Take me back to yesterday when I didn't know your name/ Those were better days"), Another Vivid Scene positions crash into june as the next band to emerge from a garage in midtown Memphis onto the national scene.
From pulsing rockers like "Breakthrough," "Fairmountebank" and "My Beautiful Trainwreck" to the Britpop leanings of "Never on Your Side," Another Vivid Scene treats you to 11 radio-ready singles fit for fast driving or a night out with friends.
But, it's not background music-it demands to be heard, to be the evening's soundtrack.
And "the industry" has been listening.
Between albums, crash into june appeared on compilations alongside Counting Crows, Jason Falkner and Superdrag and performed at music festivals from Los Angeles to Chicago to Chapel Hill while racking up rave reviews from music 'zines both here and abroad.
Another Vivid Scene was recorded at Memphis' famed Easley-McCain Recording (White Stripes, Sonic Youth, Jeff Buckley, et al), and features guest performances by studio namesake Doug Easley, Ross Rice (ex-Human Radio), Garrison Starr, John Lightman (ex-Big Star), Richard Rosebrough (ex-Big Star), Jared Rawlinson (Dora) and producer Neilson Hubbard.
The album was engineered by Stuart Sikes (White Stripes, Jets to Brazil, Promise Ring) and mixed by Clay Jones (Counting Crows, Garrison Starr, Buddy Guy).
Another Vivid Scene is released by indie label Craven Hill Records, in association with Madeline Records (Dora, Leroy Star).

Stands up to any release by any Rock, Powerpop band - EVER
author: Doug Bierly, PowerPop FanaticCrash Into June consistently put together a complete album of material that simply thrills your ears. Not a bad song on either of this band's 2 STELLAR releases. Ranging from mild alt-country influence to classic Posies, this stuff is just AWESOME. Vocals are sweet, guitars are edgy, and the songs ROCK!! Tons of energy and sincerity. Must have CD.
One of the best records I've heard in 2003
author: jeff hollingerTo these 47 year old ears, this CD is nothing short of breathtaking!! As an old fart getting back into radio with an innovative new music format, you can be sure that Crash Into June's new album will get lots of exposure, I intend to see to that. Extrodinary CD, great unique pop sound...very fresh...inventive...I really hear something unique about the band. Breakthrough is just an amazing song. I was hooked upon the first listen. It just gets better with repeat plays. Far, far superior to anything played on those crappy so-called alternative rock stations, especially here in San Francisco. My passion for great new bands and music will never wane, and this one is going to be on my all time best list, fer sure, fer sure!! Keep it up guys...and keep it real.
Like Sonic Paintings
author: Bruce Lomet (CHINASKI)Like sonic paintings - these 11 songs are individual works of art. From the driving guitars to the soaring choruses to the down tempo riffs, these songs will find a home in your CD player and STAY THERE.
