notes
"Crystal has good musical styling, in the vein of Patty Griffin... Bessie's Last Stand is perfect to listen to after a long day or during one of those "drinking alone" nights. The album definitely caught my attention and got stuck in my head but, not in that annoying "I'm never going to be able to get to sleep" way... a good compilation of Crystal Brandt's expansive musical talent." - South of Mainstream, October 2003
"This CD incorporates many sounds, piano, guitar, drums, vocals and guess what? It's all done by Brandt herself. She also wrote, arranged, recorded, mixed and produced the entire CD. Wow. Talk about DIY! She's done a nice job of it too...(the songs are) written well, with interesting melodies and intelligent lyrics. Brandt's voice matches the style perfectly...part country trill, part gutsy rocker." - Collected Sounds, Amy Lotsberg, October 2003
"For fans of intelligent, well written and performed acoustic music with a slight country taste, Crystal is a rare find... I am tempted to compare her to a female Bob Dylan who can add a trill as lovely as that of the legendary Emmylou Harris." - The Best Female Musicians, Dennis Halsey, October 2003

Can't stop listening to Bessie's Last Stand...
author: Myrna SandersBessie's Last Stand is an awesome CD! It's been a very long time since I played a cd over and over and over again, but I can't seem to take this one out of the stereo. All of the songs on this album are very intellingently written, along with her awesome vocal work, instrumentation and production - the album really rocks. It takes me back to a time when rock really rolled. Great job Crystal!
