  • Danceable industrial for every mood
    author: the jax

Fully-realized compositions blend the styles of experimental trance and harder industrial. Haunting vocals and meaningful lyrics give extra depth. "Trains" and "Greper", the most mellow downtempo tracks, are simply beautiful. The rest are awesome clubhead floor-shakers. And yes, samples galore!

  • Ctrl truly stands on its own
    author: Final ManElectro age

but Ctrl truly stands on its own. The creativity and vibe to reach the ranks of the electro's elite is present and dominates the band's compositions; Ctrl should garner the attention within the genre.

  • rich with mood and atmosphere
    author: Legends Magazine

The songs on Is Burning… are rich with mood and atmosphere, from the album's aggressive dancefloor stompers, like WhiteParticleWandering and IwantToKnowHer to the reflective and melancholy Scot1, and the more experimental tracks like InvyVsKusser. Ctrl pile layers upon layers of sound

  • mixed and sequenced perfectly
    author: gunhed--wetworks ezine

Everything is mixed and sequenced perfectly. The vocals aren't too dominant or buried in the mix, either. Production for the most part is top notch and sounds very professional. Ctrl has a very Wax Trax-inspired sound and fans of that label's bands will truly dig this album a lot. Ctrl mixes a lot of different styles on is burning... and the diversity of the release is what really captured my attention

  • experimental, the atmospheric & the easily accessable merge
    author: Re/Volt

Describing their sound as 'electro death pop' CTRL are an American quartet of Brad Mcallister, Joel Willard, Jason Fenimore & Kusser Smith. This 14 track demo which covers many different areas & styles of modern electronic music.Indeed, many possible labels could be applied to this music but none would totally fit the bill which is a testimony to the band's knack of producing tracks where the experimental, the atmospheric & the easily accessable merge together into one seamless whole. That's not to say that this is a messy hotpotch of disparate styles as there is a sense of cohesion throughout the whole album. reviewed by Carl Jenkinson - 7/8/02
