notes
They say things get better with time. Dan McVeigh has been involved in the music industry for most of his life. Dan started out as a keyboard player/lead vocalist in a number of Top 40 Rock/Country music groups before working on his career as a solo artist.
He started writing songs at age 17 and has 5 Billboard songwriting awards to his credit as well as finishing 4th in the Canadian Country Music Hall Of Fame Songwriting Competition. He is a two time winner in the NSAI/CMT Song contest in the past few years. Dan was recognized for his creative work from the City of Brampton with a 2001 Arts Acclaim Award. Dan also finished 2nd in Starquest (a country music talent competition) and 2nd in the Canadian Open Country Singing Contest (songwriting division) in 2004. Dan topped off 2004 with a nomination for future star of the year at the (OCPFA) Ontario country music awards.
Since 1994, Dan has been involved with the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) which is one of the world's largest songwriter organizations. He runs the Toronto NSAI workshop as a NSAI coordinator along with Bruce Madole. Dan owns and operates Play It Again Dan Music, a digital recording studio and music publishing company. Dan's studio produces songwriter demos and CD's for both himself and other songwriter/artists. He also produces music for Film/Television/Video productions.
He is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA), the Ontario Country Performer and Fan Association (OCPFA), the Ottawa Valley Music Association (OVMA), The Brampton Arts Council (BAC) and Society Of Composers, Authors And Music Publishers Of Canada (SOCAN).
Dan's songs have been recorded by a number of Canadian artists. He achieved chart success when Debbie Nelson released his song on Royalty Records, "Doesn't Really Matter". He released his debut CD "Love And Bridges" in 2001. This year, he reached #1 on JR's Top 50 Indie Chart with his single "Been There, Done That" and is working on his 2nd CD, which will be released in 2005. His highly anticipated debut single and video "You Are All I Dream Of" is almost ready for release. Dan performs at writer's nights in the Toronto area and in Nashville, Tennessee. Dan also has a one-man show that features his original songs along with songs by artists as diverse as Garth Brooks, Eagles, John Mellencamp, Alan Jackson, Elton John, Billy Joel, Travis Tritt and more. Dan has had the pleasure of performing on stage with artists like Diane Chase, Gil Grand, Colin Amey, Jason Barry, Barry Brown, and Wendell Ferguson. For Dan McVeigh, things have gotten better with time.

Strong songs from a real Canadian talent
author: LauraDan is a really strong songwriter, no question ... His country songs (with a pop sensibility) are exceptionally well crafted, uplifting, melodic and as good as you'll find on many big name commercial albums. My personal faves are Country to the Bone and the lovely Elton John-flavoured ballad 95 Acres of Tears. I recommend this great first CD and am looking forward to his big upcoming new one!
Heart Warming
author: DianeThis is one of the most beautiful musical pieces I have heard in a long time. It has great quality and feel emotionally to take you away to another place and time.
