A singer, songwriter who believes in the art of music, she believes music is one of the main instruments that can break down all kinds of barriers. Deborah is a heartfelt singer whose voice is like a lion to his roar; she demands your attention. Watching her perform live will light a fire under your seat and her voice will forever echo in your mind.
Born and raised in the Ocean State, Providence, Rhode Island, Deborah’s first passion was dancing; singing came a little later while being well-informed by her grandmother that she would be singing in the church choir. Deborah grew up surrounded by the soulful sounds of Motown, groups like “Chubby & The Turnpikes”, better known as “Tavares”, and Jeffrey Osborne/LTD” and if you ask Deborah who her favorite artist of all time is; her answer would be the legendary Gladys Knight. Other influences are Mary Wells, Linda Jones, Phyllis Hyman, Tina Turner, Smokey Robinson, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas and The Marvelettes.
In the early 80’s, Deborah joined a local R&B band and performed at various clubs while still in Providence. Later her need and desire for self-expression followed her to Texas and Illinois and now the New Jersey metropolitan area where she presently resides while recording and performing at benefits and various venues.
In 2003, Deborah released her self-written 12-track debut CD, titled “Let You Tell It”. Deborah was inspired by her husband; while writing, her paths crossed with mastermind recording artist/producer, Lenis Guess –80’s hit “Working For My Baby”, of Guess Records, who immediately embraced and mentored her, and in this relationship the birth of her first solo project “Let You Tell It” emerged.
“Let You Tell It” has earned considerable praise from fans and local press generating significant online media attention. Deborah’s dedicated fan base continue to multiply rapidly, and as a result her song “Unfaithful” was nominated for 2005 Record of the Year on Radio Six International and also currently holds the No. 1 spot on Pitt Radio’s Urban/R&B play list. “You’re Good For Me”, “Are Your Strong Enough” and “Without You” are still climbing multiple internet international charts.
In 2004, Deborah performed as one of the Marvelettes in the group "Marvelettes Revue", under direction of Pam Darden, an original member of the girl Motown group, "The Marvelettes". She toured with the "Marvelettes Revue" singing background and lead vocals to hits Please Mr. Postman and Don’t Mess With Bill; sharing stages with groups such as, "Soul Generations", "Prime", and Kool and the Gang".
In 2005, Deborah’s song “Without You” was selected for inclusion on Pete DeLorenzo’s up and coming soundtrack for his major motion picture “The Mentor” currently in pre-production.
It's been described that Deborah's vocal similarities are a combination of the late Phyllis Hyman, Cher, and Toni Braxton all embraced into one, but in the end Deborah's distinctive personality takes over and she releases a voice unto her own.
“I have had a passion for music far as I can remember.” I've been blessed with a loving family that has been supportive through out my ups and downs...Life and its challenges are the inspiration behind my music and I'm inspired to write what I feel.”
