notes

Delorean is a hard-rock/classic metal band based out of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The concept of the band was born from the musical inspiration of guitarist Dan Cummins and bassist Jeremy Clark who sought to form an ambitious rock band unconfined by contemporary rock music stereotypes. They worked their way through various iterations, joining forces with guitarist/lyricist Johnathon Stone, drummer Adam Satterwhite, and releasing their debut album, "Dauntless" with the female vocal stylings of Ruth Ball. As time progressed, the band began to change musically which resulted in the eventual inclusion of vocalist Rob Caudle; to be featured on thier upcoming album.

Drawing upon the influences of each band member, Delorean fuses musical elements from decades past with progressive song structures. Interplay among the instruments is complemented by a forceful vocal presence, making the band's music both energizing and powerful.

In late 2006, Delorean began putting the finishing touches on the much anticipated follow-up album to their debut, "Dauntless".

The new album, as yet untitled, is set for release in early 2007.

When I buy a cd I listen to the quality of the cd, plus I saw them live at the NC Seafood Festival in 2007 and it was like hearing a cd I had to buy the cd. When I saw them they had a male singer and the cd was titled Edge of Existence. Very good.

  • Progressive Hard Rock!

A car named after a band? Who would have ever thought... Seriously, I cannot help but think the members of Delorean must have been watching "Back To The Future" when deciding upon a name. Coming out of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Delorean takes a foundation of progressive rock and combines it with elements of classic hard rock and metal on its independently released full length debut "Dauntless". The strength of the project resides in the bands catchy and melodic based songwriting, the albums stronger material easily inviting a comparison to the likes of Shadow Gallery, Destra, Threshold and Theocracy. At the same time, one cannot help but be impressed with the confidence Delorean displays in its instrumental sound, the band cutting loose with several sweeping instrumental passages helping to take three of its tracks past seven minutes and three others past five. Lead guitarist Dan Cummins can flat out play and proves more than a match for contemporaries like John Berry (Jacobs Dream), Pete Southern (Balance Of Power) and Eduardo Parronchi (Destra). Johnathon Stone rounds out the mix on rhythm guitar in addition to contributing the majority of the albums well thought out lyrics. Bassist Jeremy Clark and drummer Adam Satterwhite form a tight and solid rhythm section. Ruth Ball puts in a very fine performance on lead vocals with her crystal clear sounding voice. Very good combination of scorpions-type metal with clear, Joan Baez style vocal lyrics. Most excellent!

  • Classic Metal still rules!!

I am blown away about the quality of this CD, both musically and production wise. It features intricate, progressive songwriting which never seems forced and catchy, singable melodies. The highlights for me are the guitar solos (welcome back, lead guitar) and the sweet tone of the singer's voice. A positive message makes it a complete package.

When I heard the clips of this band, I knew I had to have this CD. Metal has returned, and Delorean is proudly flying high the banner of rock n' roll. Twin guitar attacks abound here, and I absolutely love the female singer's voice. She fits the music here perfectly!
