author: mikebrookeummm, i own about 2000 cds and i must say that i put this in the top 5. an amazing buy. this album is unreal. beautiful.
Really good, with problems
author: DrewI know these guys, and this is their masterpeice. Though Ben needed to learn to breathe (he did now) back then, he still sung like an angel.
It's great
author: JenniferI love the cd.
Best band in San Jose
author: WerdmasterIf your smart, you'll listen to the samples.
A band with a lot of potential, Delta Activity and their first work
author: LakesterIf you're looking for something new, fresh and ABSOLUTELY not commercial here's the band you're looking for. Very similiar to (most famous) Dredg, Delta Activity and this ILL FATED show a band with a lot of potential. Songs like "Planet Tonight pt.1" can prove it!
RECOMMENDED for any listeners wantin' somethin' pleasant to rawk&groove with!
author: Improvijazzation NationDelta Activity - ILL FATED: Nick LoBue (guitar, vocals) sent this alterna-rawk CD in. Ben Henderson wrote all th' lyrics (& also does bass, keys & vocals)... th' rest of the quartet is David Padilla on guitar & vocals & Anthony Olyaee doing drums & percussion. Anthony made the (former) trio a quartet, & it's a welcome addition. He provides a nice punch under the guitars.* They are playin' (very) scripted rockin' pieces, well recorded & high energy... makes for nice road music. They play live in the Bay area at various clubs, & I can see/hear how well they'd fit in th' club scene. Definitely nice (music) writing, & they're tight together, always on time! There's no doubt that you could/would hear somethin' like this on yer' local FM/rock station, & it's entirely possible that you may be hearin' THEM (ever so) soon. If you're lookin' for improv, you'll have to move on... this is most assuredly not free-style, but it has nice energy & lyrical appeal. Some shades of Led Zep style, though time will mature their sound/talent into something uniquely their own. "LongRide" has some nice backin' vox that remind me (in some remote way) of some o' Zappa's live show rock compz, & there's an almost "jazz" feel on the instrumental "Catalogue Action" (my favorite track). We'll be lookin' for their next CD release, verzure... gets a RECOMMENDED for any listeners wantin' somethin' pleasant to rawk&groove with! Incredible album with a new characteristic way of blending songs
author: THOMPSONI had no regretful thoughts about buying this album after seeing these guys play.It has incredible singing, flawless talent on the guitars, and a unique blend of songs that your ears need a double take on.The songs sway into the next, rather then just cute to the other.A blend of jazz and rock make this great to listen to every time!
Rastafunkadoobious
author: The Little MatthiessenNo doubt about it, this is the only CD that I've actually waited for to come out. Although I had it before it was released, it was/is a great CD. It was a great expirience seeing it being recorded, but it's an even better expirience listening to it day to day. This is the CD that I listen to most and everybody should listen to it so that it's not just a conspiracy. Go buy it now!
I waited six long months for this CD to come out and its everything I hoped for
author: MATTHIESSENI have a copy of the CD for my home stereo, one for my disk-man, and another for my car. Ill Fated is a grooving CD that keeps you hanging onto the funky guitar riffs; you might find yourself singing along right up to the last song, What I Want. Props to Ben on Swayin', my personal favorite, and good luck to rest of the band (except J.D.).
very groovalicious!
author: Victim Of Groove-sacramento, CaThoughtful lyrics, clean guitar work, wonderful technique...'Along the Way' left me wanting more! It is an awesome instrumental which features that 'hint of jazz influence.' Musically, this track is my favourite. Excellent drum'n'bass; neither too passive nor too overpowering. The two are perfectly complementary to the vocals and guitars. Yet another outstanding first effort from a young Bay Area band. Now more than ever, San Francisco/San Jose, California is THE place to discover the world's hottest new acts. 'Planet TonightPt. 2' and 'Swaying in the Breeze' capture the best of frontman Ben Henderson's vocal abilities. Overall, great creativity and exemplary musicianship from each of the band's members. I can't wait to get my copy of "Ill Fated." And I will surely be making a special trip to the Bay Area to catch a Delta Activity set. Bravo, gentlemen!
