(About MP3 downloads at CD Baby)

Digital Droo is melodic electronic music with a healthy dose of adrenaline, designed to make you temporarily forget what speed limit signs are there for.

notes

Andrew Tokuda has been banging away at anything that made noise since he was 2 years old. At the age of four, his parents thought it might be a great idea to have him learn to play the piano. Years later, the child non-prodigy has taken on the name, Droo, and the noises that bubbled in that brain of his, has magically found its way through expensive digital toys, into this wonderful thing called "mp3."

Since 1999, Droo has been recording music electronically, employing both traditional and synthesized sounds. His music has made its mark on the Macintosh computer community via distribution through MacAddict Magazine.

His unique sound has found its way into various game soundtracks and narratives. His first official CD release, Active Lancer Original Soundtrack, is a representation of his "harder" self. There are 11 hard-edged tracks, written specifically for a game in which you, an aerial fighter with some seriously big guns, fly over alien terrain and shoot down bad guys.

Included on this CD are sound samples for remixers and DJs.

...A lot of people like that.

Fantastic electronic instrumental album.....sounds similar to Dragon Lord Syn.

  • AWESOME! Classic DROO!
    author: Jim P

This CD is pure classic Digital Droo. I have listened to Droo on the MacAddict CDs I get with my subscription to MacAddict. I had to have DD in my car and this CD is the one to have if you like to DRIVE! But be careful! It is easy to cruise down the open road at 80 MPH! The beat is intense and the pan and zoom effects literally FLY around inside the vehicle. Droo music is reminiscent of 70's Tangerine Dream but less monotonous. Droo also has the sparkle of the 70's Jean Michael Jarre's Trip in Center Head album, yet Droo is unique in his own way. Digital Droo is a fantastic techno artist and is highly recommended if you are into that genre.

  • Keep an eye on this guy.

Droo is on his way up, AL soundtrack is more refined and more professionally done than Mac Addict years. The tracks are a little repeatitive (necessary for a game sound track.) but defintely great for getting a nice little tune in your head. He's not a refined as my favorite band, Tangerine Dream, but the fact that he's in the same league as a band with 30 years of history is a strong accolade. AL is great, Mac Years is great, as long as Droo cranks 'em out, I'll keep buying 'em. Go Droo!

  • One of the best Techno CD's out there!

This is one great CD! I own a Lasertag facility and Digital Droo is on my #1 playlist for the arena. I'll be looking for the next CD by Digital Droo!

  • One Electronic n00b definitely enjoys this CD.
    author: Joel Schou

As the short version says, I am rather new to the Electronic genre and don't have a lot of experience with music of this sort. I also don't play many games so I don't know how this stacks up against other game soundtracks. However, I do know music and rhythm and beats well enough to recognize when I am enjoying something and when I'm not, and with this CD I am definitely enjoying myself. I'll admit, I've always thought of electronic music as repetitive and uncreative, but this CD is neither. Each song has a wonderful feeling all its own and had me tapping my feet and bobbing my head. I'm hoping we get another album from Droo sometime soon!

  • Can a soundtrack for a game be this good?
    author: Tony Previte

Usually the first thing I do with a game is turn off the soundtrack, and supply my own tunes for enjoyment. Not the case here! Droo pulls off what may be a first for my ears, a game soundtrack that stands on its own without the game. The CD feels right at home in my techno playlist next to artists like the Crystal Method and the Chemical Bros. And if you're an aspiring mixologist he even provides samples from the album. How cool is that!

  • Fantastic sounds with moving beats.
    author: Ron Steinke - Tracker@aol.com

I have listened to each of Digital Droo's samples on the MacAddict CDs. I have waited patiently for him to release a full CD. He has done it and it is more than I expected! Fantastic sounds, moving beats, and a full-length CD to listen to. My feet are twitching and my body rocking to Digital Droo's initial release - Active Lancer.

  • Unlike any other video game sountrack - phenomonal
    author: Dan

Very amazing. So many diverse styles combined to make one amazing soundtrack. This is one of the first video game sountracks that easily doubles as great listening music, whether you are into melodic trance or hard breakbeat. This one will be on the top of my iPod playlist for quite a while.
