notes
Annie Dinerman is an award-winning singer-songwriter whose lyrics reveal a frank, funny and very female point of view. Women in her audience identify, and men want to be the man she writes about. Childhood hours spent lying on the living room rug, poring over traditional folksong books, prompted Annie to walk in the footsteps of storytelling artists like Paul Simon and Wendy Waldman. Annie’s singing voice will remind you of a young Carole King, but her warm, witty and womanly writer’s voice is distinctly Dinerman.
The only native Ohioan in a family of transplanted New Yorkers, she heard the artist’s call and moved to New York to concentrate on songwriting. In June of 2006, Annie received the Abe Olman Award from Songwriters Hall of Fame, and made her debut at the Kerrville Folk Festival as a songwriting contest finalist. In May 2007, Annie received a grant from the Anna Sosenko Assist Trust for recording expenses for her second CD, currently being produced by Steve Addabbo (Susanne Vega, Shawn Colvin, Sonya Kitchell).
Annie’s song “Child In Me Again” (heard on this CD), was recorded by Kathie Gifford on her “Born For You” CD (2000). Gifford's CD hit three Billboard charts: #1 on Heatseekers, #6 on Top Contemporary Christian, and #139 on Top 200.

Singer/Songwriter
author: Paul D BoddenI have really been enjoying this CD. Annie sounds great! I have always loved these songs and it's a treat to hear them again whenever I want. It takes me back to a time when I would go see Annie perform in cabaret rooms around New York. This CD is almost as good as being back there then.
Theatrical and magical! This girl can SING!
author: Britta Lee ShainI love this CD! Annie Dinerman’s 1,001 American Nights is in large part (but not entirely) an homage to the pop music of the late 50’s and early 60’s--music you can sing along to and feel good about. The difference? Both the lyrics and the music are intelligent, catchy and poignant, straight out of the Carole King school of songwriting. And not only that, this girl can SING! Think Carole King meets Laura Nyro with a dash of Dusty Springfield. From the first note, you know you are in for an unusual ride. Theatrical and magical, not unlike the soundtrack to a smash hit Broadway musical, Annie captures your heart and “soul” with her New York based, single girl reminiscences like “Halo Round My Heart” about teenage love a cappella style, or the worldwide women’s anthem “Same All Over”. Then, just when you think you’ve got this artist pegged, she offers up a gritty folk rock ballad, “Greasy Spoon”, or the award-winning, “Magdalena, No”, that you can’t stop humming for days; the heartfelt prayer we all share in “The Child in Me Again” and the haunting cinematic short story, ”The Lady Down the Hall”. Annie’s lyric sheet reads like a book of poetry. This is not your typical 21st century female artist. Annie Dinerman is one of a kind! I’ve listened to the CD four times, already, and it just keeps getting better!
