notes
Matt Donner is "Donner, Party of One". The album represents two years of songwriting and production and showcases his skills as both instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, arranger and producer. The album is a culmination of all these skills, as most of the music was performed by him. It also showcases some of the Bay area's most talented musicians, from Percy Howard, to Ahmed Azzam and lots of guests in between.
The story's all tell of relationships, both good and bad, and chronicles personal tales of love; lost, found and lost again. "Party of One" implies that happiness must come from within and not your partner and that in the end, we are all alone. The emotions range from rage to sullen to elation to flatness and the album has a flow that is organic and powerful.
It is the spirit of the lost art of "album rock" that is presented here, and the consistency of theme is matched only by the consistency of sound and production.
This is a powerful record and is deserving of a spot in history.

Forget about Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, and Vixen! Donner ROCKS!!!
author: Greg HerbineThis is MUSIC!!! Masterful songwriting and Sherman-over-Atlanta vocals communicate the gravity of relationships gone awire. We've all been there, and the more I listen, the more I am in tune with the spewing theme. My favorites include If (I Told You), 7 Fly, and Stay With Me. Hints of Nine Inch Nails intensity, Better Than Ezra smoothness, and Celtic music moodiness bring this CD to a deep and unique level. This CD will stay near the top of my collection for a long time.....
