About Downshallow:
Since its inception, Downshallow has been spreading their music to all who are willing to openly listen... a fair and square chance to impress is all that's asked.
Downshallow, one of the most prominent bands to come out of the NY/NJ area in recent years, delivers a brand of hard rock, in which melody and energy are tightly bonded. A union of lyrical imagery, expressive dynamics and solid grooves, Downshallow's music has garnered attention through shows, the internet, and the traditional "word-of mouth", playing at legendary clubs like CBGB's & Stone Pony, as well as touring the Tri-State, New England & Philadelphia areas.
Alex Shaddix, the vocalist & lyricist of the group, sings with a heartfelt intensity that is unmatched by many in music today. Rob Ferreira, guitarist, elevates the listener with his soaring solos and awe-inspiring textures. The bottom end is held tightly together by Ant Salcedo, whose melodic approach to bass playing adds substance to the rhythm section. And to round out this chemistry infused unit is drummer, Justin Smith, who provides accentuating rhythms that create the difference between a standard song and a sonic movement.
Having released short run copies of previous EPs, Downshallow is now armed with a full length 12 song collection featuring a BONUS DVD with live & studio footage as well as nine additional bonus tracks.

Not signed because...???
author: RyanI heard about this cd on Myspace. I finally heard a couple songs by Downshallow, thought they were awesome, and bought this cd. I love it. Propaganda (sp?) and Change To Fade are definitely favorites. My only problem was that my favorite song, Plastic is on the dvd and not the cd. This album is well worth your time and money.
I see, I buy, I like.
author: Sam The WiseFound this album through MySpace and normally a band has like one or two good songs at the most. But these guys had several so I decided, what's $10 right? Well, I'm glad i got it, cuz it blows me away every time. And on top of that it comes with a DVD which has lots of extra stuff. That is awesome especially given the fact that this band isn't signed and did it all themselves.
Simply Amazing
author: BrianAwesome, Awesome, Awesome!!! How's that for a plain and simple review?
Does it get any better?
author: Lenny T.One of the year's Best. 1. Propaganda - 9/10 - great power 2. Why - 8/10 - lots of energy 3. One More Time - 9/10 - catchy chorus 4. Change To Fade - 10/10 - probably the best song on here 5. Lovely Summer - 10/10 - different yet very catchy 6. Hesitate - 7/10 - intro is too long but still good and pumping 7. Sweet Saccharine - 10/10 - great changes, great solo, 2nd favorite 8. Feorah - 10/10 - another great ballad like song, my #3 9. Anonymous - 10/10 - love the double vocals 10. No Sleep - 9/10 - reminds me of old guns or something 11. Peerless - 9/10 - nice soft song with cool chorus 12. Silver - 10/10 - great example of hard, soft and melody SCORE: 92.5% BONUS DVD: Priceless. Funny stuff, I like the studio more than the live. Live sound suffers, but then there's MORE MUSIC. 9 more songs. EXTRA EXTRA CREDIT FOR SURE JUST BUMPED THIS UP TO TOTAL SCORE: 99.9% I'll leave .1% off cuz not ALL the songs are GREAT, but pretty darn close. My nominee for one of 2005 best.

Awesome CD
author: MattI saw this band live and had never heard them before. When I saw them I was given a free 2-song cd which included Propaganda and Change To Fade. I was blown away and immediately bought the CD. here's a full review song by song: Propaganda: 5/5- the first Downshallow song I ever heard, amazing. I love Alex's scream after the first verse. Why: 5/5- Keeps the energy going, I love the guitar riff and the vocals in the verses. One More Time: 4/5- A little more chilled out then the previous songs, but still has the energy. Change to Fade: 5/5- Shows the softer side of Downshallow. Alex's vocals in the chorus are amazing and emotional. The ends with what sounds like is a left over acoustic guitar riff, very beautiful song. Lovely Summer: 4/5- the energy picks back up with this one, a very good summer tune. Hesitate: 3/5- probably my least favorite on the cd. Just ok. Sweet Saccharine: 5/5- oh dear jesus, what a song. Everything about it is perfect. The first half is probably the heaviest part of the cd and the second half is an amazing guitar solo section. The actual solo is frantic or difficult but it changes the mood and does the job perfectly. Feorah: 3.5/5- meh, not bad. Anonymous: 4/5- Cool guitar riff and the drums are pretty cool using the toms a lot. No Sleep: 4/5- nice drum intro. fast paced song, really cool guitar riff. Peerless: 4.5/5- the chillest part of the cd, I absolutely love the guitar during the first 20 seconds. So relaxing. Silver: 5/5- perfect ending to an amazing cd. The bass part during the first riff just can't be described. It probably isn't hard to play but it goes right along with the relaxing nature of the song. Alex's vocals are really emotional and heartfelt. The song ends with an acoustic guitar snippet and some effects. The DVD is a great bonus. You get to see 4 live songs filmed at CBGB's in New York (the 4 songs are Lovely Summer, Sweet Saccharine, and 2 older songs Get Off and Falling Away). In addition to that, you get to see some in-studio footage and you get to listen to 9 older songs/b-sides. Overall, this is an excellent CD. I suggest you pick it up now, then when these guys get famous you can say, "Yea I have their first full-length album".
Downshallow,"So Many Wants, So Little Compromise"
author: Mike SOSNew Jersey’s Downshallow is at it again, offering up another round of visceral, rousing music that combines metal, alternative, and hard rock. This outfit’s latest 12-track endeavor exposes an impressive array of hard rock sensibilities, effortlessly shifting gears from the ethereal feel of Tool, the bluesy grit of Alice in Chains, the sinewy sonic blasts of Chevelle, the melancholic, metallic nuances of Staind, and a touch of Black Label Society’s six-stringed heroics. From the mellow reflection of “Feorah” to the piledriving rhythms of “Why?” and “Anonymous”, these guys cover all bases and emanate the kind of stand up and take notice sound that some bands take years to hone. Relying on the strength of a passionate vocal performance, not to be outdone by the precise bass and drums and the versatile guitar work that flows from sledgehammer-style riffagings to delicate interludes with refined grace, this quartet’s pulsating melding of metal and hard rock is the kind of provocative and cathartic music that rock fans everywhere should get an earful of.
Awesome Album
author: Pete TaylorEvery now and then you find a band or CD that is barely known and you can't just help wonder how is this possible. That's how I feel about these guys and their music. This package is total PRO, great songs, quality and with a bonus DVD. For the price you're getting over 20 songs (including the DVD). And they never suck!!! Bravo to you all. I'll be listening for more.
