notes

Technical brilliance and musical sensitivity have become a trademark for the violin-viola ensemble Duo Renard. Critics on both sides of the Atlantic have praised their "sumptuous sound" and "mature artistry." The Frankfurter Rundschau described their performance as "an evening of ever-increasing musical excitement." The Cologne Stadt-Anzeiger acclaimed them for being "perfectly attuned to one another."

Their newest recording, The Deeper Magic: Music from 20th Century America for Violin and Viola (Musicians Showcase), garnered high praise from Fanfare magazine, which declared "These are marvelous string players . . ." The Köln-Bonner Musikkalendar called their first CD -- of works by Fuchs, Kühnl and Martinu -- "a treasure trove for lovers of intimate string sound."

Recipients of a prestigious National Endowment for the Arts 'Rural Residencies' chamber music grant, Duo Renard was named 'Artists in Residence' in the Department of Music at Texas A&M University - Commerce. In addition to presenting recitals throughout Texas, Duo Renard continues to perform in Germany.
