notes
Candlelight and Twine
of the eleven songs eight are from a project I completed the day before christmas. my goal was to write ten love songs for m' ex-lady. I gave her the CD (only one copy in existence) for the birth of baby jesus day. so really she deserves much credit and praise for musing me. only silver sips is an older tune. this is a record of transition of leaving California and eventually arriving in boston where I continue to be amazed at life unfolding. and still, I feel as though transition isn't a term and neither is change for that matter. without them I'd be ashes scattered at my favorite place.
this CD is dedicated to the memory Jonathon Zimmerman.

beautiful
author: christine pizzutiI saw Elam Blackman play in Cambridge two years ago at an open mic. He played a song called "winter squash soup." I bought the CD "Candlelight and Twine" and lost it at some point, and have missed it very much. I just bought another. Smart lyrics, and a nice folky spin on blues. I love it.
candlight & twine... feelin' fine
author: Joe Borresonthis is an excellent all acoustic album full of sweet fingerpicking, Elam's talkin'/singin' voice, unique melodies, lyrics that are heartfelt, wry, and true to life & love, and definately some of Elam's finest songwriting....
Powerful light heavy simple haunting graceful true
author: ThumbelinaInnocence abounds in this delightful album. It is at once charming and complex. The kind of CD you find has been playing all day long while you were at work and each time you heard it a different phrase stood out. Each track is love unfolding with introspection. Two people, alone together. Beautiful!
Great tunes
author: hmmogLyrics are catchy and relaxing....they speak things that are hard to put into words. The rhythms are soothing, but also very engaging. All around, it is a good album.

Elam is a lyrical, poetical, mystical master of the turn of the phrase that will turn the corners of your mouth upward in a grateful grin.
Poetry like Dylan, only better...
author: Jai FlickerThis Album is straight from the heart and you can feel it on every track. Simple and honest, the lyrics on this album are brilliant. Some of the best I have ever heard. My favorite track is It's OK to be Alone. An ode to being single, it literally brings tears to my eyes. Don't be surprised when you find it on the soundtrack of your favorite movie someday soon. Check it out!
