When the concept of ELECTRIC CHURCH first came to life several years ago - as the soul child of Todde "toddiefunk" Lawton (bass player for TobyMac), it seemed as if it had always been here yet, it was totally new - a genuine, organic collision of funk and R&B musicality, hot new urban sounds and a Holy Ghost bottom line.

In the beginning, “toddiefunk” took EC to the church as well as to the most intense rock and roll venues,the hottest top 40 spots, the edgiest urban dance clubs and back to the church without changing a lyric or a beat. They filled every room and were voted “Best Funk Band” by their loyal and diverse fans. EC’s vibe is overflowing with a groove so pure and true, without compromise, no matter where they venture. There’s something for everyone willing to put it in their ear, defying genre & market boundaries.

Even though this band is musically influenced and empowered by legendary greats like P-Funk, Bootsy, Prince, Slave, The Gap Band, Ohio Players, Cameo and others, they do not simply mirror their predecessors and produce a cleaned up, copy-cat sound. Instead, they are a living product of life long immersion in the truest, most authentic musicality, blended with timely growth and taking it all in, shaking it up and birthing a new thing based on the very essence of the fusion. It will move you in every sense of the word!

As the visionary front man, vocalist, writer, producer and bassist, “toddiefunk” is a man whose very soul is grounded in purpose and EC is a driving force - music with a mission.     picture this: you got this laboratory right, and above your head are these giant glass cylinders,{stay wit me now} and in one glass cylinder is "p-funk" in the one next to that is "prince" and in the one next to that one is "gap band" and "cameo" - ooouuuwwwhhh! {stay wit me now} and each of these cylinders have a tube coming out of the bottom, and all those tubes meet together as one tube. and out of all those tubes drip all the influences of music into that one tube, and out comes "toddie-funk" and electric church. it's brand new flava baby ya digg! Bigg'in up Christ, FUNKALICIOUSTYLE!
