notes

The Electric Primadonnas are a group from Oklahoma that reminisces in the sound of taking battery acid, bathing a jumbo jet engine in it and placing the moist hard metal on a large turntable and pluging it into megaphone.

  • Tambourine Massacre Review (A Short)
    author: Soloman

The band's debut is titled "Tambourine Massacre." Things get started with "Psychotic Elephant", the prelude which serves its purpose, but things really get started with the title track. The song delivers an energetic high without going overboard, which is the problem with too many of today's bands. The mood settles down over the next three tracks, but the band delivers the best song of the album during the span. "Violence" has all the trimmings of '70s classic complete with a mellow guitar riff. Things pick up with "Love You Like a Submarine," which melts right into "Wires In My Brain", another standout on the album. In fact, the rest of the album flows so effortlessly that I could not even find a "skip" track. I haven't mentioned the lyricism contained in the tracks, mainly because the the purpose of the album is definitely the music. They don't try to grab your attention with catchy phrases. The music speaks for itself. "Heavy," however is a firmly lyrically-driven track. Not a bad way to close out the album. It's an indie release, so the the hunger is clearly there. One only hopes that the drive for success does not tone down the pure emotion contained in the melodies. Standout Tracks: Violence, Wires In My Brain, Heavy. Skip Tracks: none. Lyrical Content: 4/5. Music Vibes: 5/5.
