notes

Beginnings marks the first chapter in Emily Lord's recording career. This contemporary folk album delivers striking vocals and poignant lyrics worthy of the Americana tradition. An award winning vocalist as a college student, Emily recorded an acoustic version of her song "Angelina" for a University of Notre Dame compilation CD. The dramatic reaction on campus convinced Emily to record more of her songs, and Beginnings is the result of that effort.

Emily's rich voice delivers compelling, emotional, lyrics written straight from the heart. Fan favorites from this album are "Angelina" and "Are You an Angel Tonight", both of which deal with the tragedy of life cut short. Other songs from this album such as "Shores of Alicante", "Dachau," and "Raining in New England" chronicle her experience as she ventured throughout The United States and Europe.

This album is listening music for people who appreciate powerful vocals and meaningful lyrics.

  • Amazing

This is one of my all-time favorite CDs. I was a freshman at Notre Dame when Emily was a senior, and she would pack in people at Acoustic Cafe when she performed. The song writing is amazing and her voice is haunting. A must have.

I first heard Emily when I was 13 years old, my sister was a senior at Notre Dame and graduating and she had bought the CD from the bookstore. From the moment i heard it i fell in love with the lyrics, vocals, and sound!! What an amazing artist, you wont find too many of these artists anymore. A CD you can truly listen to over and over and never get sick of and recommend to friends!! Awesome Job!!

I first heard this music on Kelley's Island and fell in love with the music and sound of Emily's voice. There is a lot of feeling that pours out through her music, not just voice and notes. I am a forever fan! Great job Emily!

Listening to beginnings i am writing the review for Brand new day, the newest record of Emily. But folks all three of her albums are great. You should not miss one of them. After listing to them all you are glad owning them/ Emily is a great singer and guitar player. Don't miss this . Order all her work. You won't regret it.
