notes

"I believe that everybody's got a song to sing
And we're all singing everyday but nobody's really listening
So we'll keep on playing, keep on singing all over the world
'Cause every single one of us is just waiting to be heard..."
- Waiting to be Heard, Emma Jo, 2007

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Waiting to be Heard is Emma Jo's spectacular debut CD, includes nine original solo-acoustic songs and an unlisted remix of Hurricane Katrina-inspired "The Waters Rise" featuring additional musicians Nick and Kris Schnebelen.

Although Emma Jo now has her own band and is in the process of recording her second album with them, her solo effort still stands up as an excellent acoustic album, with strong hooks that will stay in your head for hours and mature, introspective lyrics.

Emma Jo is an artist to keep your eye on. She's a diamond in the rough... and she's ready to shine.

"Waiting to Be Heard is a brave, bold statement; with just her voice and her guitar, she shows her talent and her potential." - Chip Withrow, Muses Muse

"At what age is it too young to describe a singer/songwriter as earthy, raw, powerful? ... Listen to [Emma Jo's] lyrics and hear everyone from Alison Krauss to Emmylou Harris, Dave Mathews to Bruce Springsteen. Look out world, here she comes, and trust me, you won't have to wait long to hear her!" - Steve Craft, MusicReview.com

  • The voice of an Angel

For a young artist, I thought the songwriting on this CD was incredibly mature. The acoustic guitar playing, combined with the lyrics and the voice of an angel, make this one great CD. I bougth 2 copies- one for myself, and one for my daughter, since I knew when she heard it, she would try to steal mine.

It is so refreshing when you listen to a new artist that actually stands out from the rest of the crowd. Waiting to be Heard is an album by one of those artists. It is a very easy and enjoyable listen, all the way through. The songs are very vocally driven, and the lyrics reach out and capture your interest, right from the start. Emma Jo has a very unique, and beautiful voice that you have to hear in order to fully appreciate. This is a great CD, and it is HIGHLY recommended.
