notes

Estrogen was formed in 1998, when friends and solo artists Corinne Curcio, Lori Muskat, and Carol Kassel began writing and performing together. The trio realized that the lesbian community is a vibrant source of humor - from relationships to roles, hairstyles to heartbreak. The band has performed in the NYC area at the Gay Community Center, Sun Music Company, Hannah's Lava Lounge, and other venues, and in the Atlanta area, at places such as Eddie's Attic and Red Light Cafe. Estrogen has also been involved in community benefits for "This Way Out" Radio, the Gay and Lesbian Switchboard of Long Island, and other organizations. Estrogen was also a two-time nominee for a 2002 Outmusic Award.

Corinne (guitar, bass, vocals, songwriter) taught herself the guitar by learning the music of her favorite band, The Beatles. You can hear their influence in some of her songwriting, though she is constantly exploring new territory. Corinne has two solo CDs: Now and A Whisper in My Ear, also available on CDbaby.

Lori (guitar, vocals, songwriter) has been writing songs since she was a teenager and making people laugh since before that. Her writing reflects her love of musical comedy, and she finds humor in some very unexpected places. Lori currently resides in Atlanta, GA, where she is refining her Manhattan drawl.

Carol (violin, percussion, vocals, songwriter) has been playing music since she was a small child, and she has added highly personal, often hilarious, songs into the mix. Though she had always considered herself a writer of serious prose, she has been learning to add the phrase "comic songwriter" to her self-description.
