Farfan is not a candy bar, a soccer team, or a new brand of hybrid automobile that runs on banana oil. Farfan is the brainchild of brothers Chris and Jorge Farfan. Born in Ecuador and exposed to just about every kind of musical influence under the sun as young men in NYC, they spent
years locked in an attic refining their diverse sonic recipe -- The result
is some seductive, generous music.
The brothers and their friends released their first album, "Black Circles In The Attic," in 2000. Farfan's heady blend of sounds is refined and expanded on their new album, "Moments Beyond the Attic".
The band's mission is to remain fearless in its pursuit of the organic thrill of pure sound, unfettered by industry standards or preconceived notions of hip. Farfan moves from the attic to the streets as 2008 has seen them hone their live sound in regular gigs around NYC and beyond. Come see them and find out what that sweet, hard-to-define sound is....

    I love this cd and I've shared it with many friends whom themselves had to get their own copy. The cd jacket is Fun...starting with the first song you are drawn in ....thank you for The Farfan music...can't wait to hear you Live in Williamsburg :-)

    I first saw FARFAN perform at The Cutting Room in NYC in 2000 and was blown away. I was wondering if the were ever going to release a follow-up to their first CD, which is a desert island disc for sure. Moments Beyond is a slam dunk sophmore album by the brothers. I am floored once again. Don't sleep on this one. Perfect music for driving, drawing, background soundscape, Dig it. Thank you FARFAN. You guys did it again.

    Every once in a while an album comes along that short circuits even the most jaded music fan's critical radar and heads straight to the pleasure centers in the brain. Farfan's Moments Beyond the Attic is just such a record. Listening to this talented indy band reminds me of the first time I heard such post-rock touchstones as Radiohead's OK Computer, My Bloody Valentine's Loveless or Sonic Youth's Daydream Nation. In other words, albums that were and remain singular moments in creative bravery. Like those records, Moments Beyond the Attic stands alone as a foray into new musical terrain with some very creative souls at the helm.
