notes
Fat Pappy's sound is an upbeat mix of rock, funk, and blues. Together since 2000, the band is based in Denver and performs throughout the Denver metro and Northern Colorado area. Fat Pappy's unique groovy sound proves to be one thing you can "get out on the farm."
Bass player John McLaird is a veteran performer of over 15 years in both Colorado and his native state of South Dakota. In addition to performing John is a professor of music theory at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.
Vocalist Chris Page is originally from Philadelphia where he performed with several bands including Seasons End. Chris' "Gritty" vocal style adds a real bluesy edge to Fat Pappy's sound.
Drummer Michael Nelson is a native of Colorado and has been a part of the Denver music scene for well over 10 years. Michael's solid hard hitting drumming is the backbone of Fat Pappy.
Guitarist Jason Olson is also a native of Colorado performing with bands such as Vandal, Blind Redemption, and Friction since 1989. Jason has a Bachelors degree in Classical guitar, and a varied guitar background that includes rock, blues, and jazz. In addition to performing, Jason also teaches privately maintaining a studio of over 50 weekly students.

Awesome!
author: SaraSaw these guys play a couple weeks ago and was VERY impressed with their talent! I highly recommend this album to anyone who takes their listening material seriously. If you get the chance to see them play, do it, you'll be glad you did!
Great sound, unique and refreshing!
I am really enjoying this CD. I hadn't really tried out the funk/rock/blues mix genre before, but if this is any indicator, I'm definately a fan! These guys are all obviously extremely talented, and have a great future ahead of them. The CD turns in my player almost constantly. It's nice to have something to listen to that has some (well played) guitar focus, as well, considering much of todays music is leaning away from that. The vocals are great, and the fact that you can find varying sounds in each track makes the CD that much easier to enjoy...something for whatever mood you may be in.
