notes
Frank Gayer Martin picked up the guitar and lifted his voice at the age of thirteen. Now 35 years later, he knows it’s not how well one plays and sings, “but how much soul you bring to the party.”
Born in Houston, transplanted as kid to Colorado, Martin was hooked by the wounded charisma of Gram Parson which lead to the taproots of Americana - Bob Wills, Bill Monroe, Clifton Chenier, Buck Owens and all things Hee Haw.
His new CD, Postmark, is a letter with first-hand stories about his grandfather, hurricanes, the dark side of fundamentalism, death and love. Martin lives in Glenwood Springs and plays guitar, mandolin, lap slide and lap steel with local bands and visiting troubadours.
“Frank Martin is a rarity. Dexterous as a player, writer and singer, he is thoughtful and skilled in his approach and passionate in his delivery. He is a unique, first-class musical personality.”
–Tom Kimmel
“All the good pickers are NOT on the Front Range! This guy Frank Martin's got a great character voice and an on-target sense of arranging, plus he shows up playing terrific slide and guitar.”
–Chuck Pyle
"Frank Martin, a really fine songwriter, is also a sly and subtle slide guitar player with a real understanding of American roots music — he makes me smile."
–Kenny Edwards

One of this year's best singer/songwriters CDs
author: Remo Ricaldone, Susa Onda Radio, ItalyDear Frank, It’s with great surprise that I received your "Postmark" CD. I enjoyed it so much from the very first listening and I must admit it's one of this year's best singer/songwriters CDs. Your approach is brilliant and sincere and I found the songs full of great stories. I'll be glad to add the cd to my radio playlist ("Happy Trails" on Susa Onda Radio, Italy) and to include it in my favorites for this month (FAR Chart). All the best, Remo Ricaldone, Italy
Excelling at every turn, you’ve a winner my friend.
author: Eddie Russell/Global RadioMan I sure do like your ‘Postmark’ CD... so packed to the prime with great songs and ‘radio friendly’ production. Instrumental’s, hidden track golf rap included, mixed in with the fine story songs and Russell head-turner’s such as # 7 & 9 ... with # 12 as an excellent closer. Excelling at every turn, you’ve a winner my friend.
