Flat Broke also includes guitarist/vocalist Mike Letts, drummer Jim Cohen and lead vocalist/harmonica player Lorrie Hayes.
The Flat Broke Blues Band takes the influences of blues, rock, soul and R&B and creates a sound that respects the tradition of the blues but also pushes it's contemporary bounds. The band's stage show is filled with an entertaining and danceable mix of blues and R&B classics along with a variety of original songs that showcase the talents of all of the band members. Over the years, Flat Broke Blues Band has shared the stage with several blues stars including Koko Taylor, Tab Benoit, Shemekia Copeland, Shirley King and Lonnie Brooks to name a few.
The band recently released their latest CD entitled "Worth the Weight" which features a total of 12 tracks, including 10 Flat Broke original songs. Tom Hyslop, contributing writer for Blues Revue Magazine says the CD features "an intriguing blend of the subtle and the swashbuckling with every note designed to move your spirit." A hidden treasure
author: Petoskey JohnWhat a fantastic body of work! Flat Broke is one of those hidden treasures that if you're in the know, mere words cannot describe their music or performance. A must hear...must see!
A fantastic blend of old and newer progressive blues!
author: GregCaught the band live in Grand Marais, MI 7/22/06 and bought the CD. My wife is typically not a fan of blues music but she loves this and like the live performance, Worth the Weight makes you get up and dance.

Everybody that hears it, loves it!
author: Barry WI bought the CD at a concert in Marquette and have since purchased two more as gifts. Their unique sound appeals to all blues lovers with a little something special for U.P. folks. I want more.
Good, solid blues!
author: Steve S.This CD is a real treat to listen to. It's like a good stew...every time you go back to it, the flavors have blended together to make a better tasting sample! Check this band out live if you can. I have a few times and the songs hold up live just like they do on the CD. This is the "North Country" style of blues, and I'm all for it!
Great songs, great lyrics and strong musicianship.
author: Richard S.This CD has a little bit of everything and shows all of the sides of this band. It's not just the same old blues thing. A solid recording with great songs, lyrics and musicianship!!
