Jay Flippin, piano and Gordon Towell, saxophones perform intimate jazz duets in a relaxed atmosphere. The compositions are selected from a repertoire of standards, jazz standards, and originals. All of the selections emphasize strong melodies and interesting harmonies. The performers are experienced jazz practitioners and also are teachers who can enlighten your audience about the art form and the distinct nature of its performance. They offer concerts and educational packages for any size audience.
These guys can really play! They would sound at home on any stage in the world with anyone. The dedication to their craft and the breadth of their experience are evident on every track. This music is real jazz played by two gifted practitioners of the art and can be considered topflight jazz playing by any standard. This is beautiful and creative jazz improvisation on great tunes played by two experienced musicians who have a lot to say.

Wonderful example of jazz at its finest!
author: Heidi EyreI know very little about the art of jazz, but I do know that the heart of the music lies in the artists' passion. Both artists' passion is very evident in this CD. The original compositions are fun and innovative while the standards are creatively played with some original twists. "Still Friends" is one of those CDs you can play over and over and never get tired of it. All in all, I would highly recommend it -- both to those who have a finely tuned ear for jazz and those who are just looking for something new.
