Too pop to be rock, too rock to be pop, the band's ragged rock-and-roll enthusiasm is always tempered by the need to get those four-part harmonies just right.

Fooled By April has always been a bundle of contradictions. Some describe them as the bastard sons of Cheap Trick and Fountains Of Wayne, while others compare them more to what the Clash might have been had they listened to a lot more KISS. Too pop to be rock, too rock to be pop, the band's ragged rock-and-roll enthusiasm is always tempered by the need to get those four-part harmonies just right.
The band's precursor EP (produced by Whiskeytown's Mike Daly, and also available here on CDBaby.com) turned some heads by being the #1 seller on CDBaby.com in its first two weeks and a continuous top-seller since. And as one of the top-ten most added records in the country in its first week at radio, it later broke into the CMJ Top 200 chart. It wasn't long before many TV and film placements came through MTV, Sony, Disney and several independents, culminating in a national heavy-use placement of their song, "Nice to See You," by the ABC Family Channel over the past year on network and cable. Not too shabby for an unsigned band doing it all on their own.
This new self-titled record is the band's first full-length, so the CD Release itself warranted a big show and a huge party. On June 4th, 2005, Fooled By April headlined in front of 300 people at the Paradise Rock Club with their good buddies Scamper supporting, along with two hot new major label acts opening, The Redwalls and American Minor. It was a crowning achievement after the band's relentless touring of the Northeast and Midwest, which has brought them to many showcases at the CMJ Music Festival in New York City, the NEMO Festival in Boston and the prestigious South by Southwest Festival in Austin, TX.
Enjoy the record, and please leave a comment and let the boys know what you think!

Fabulous Songs, Great Beer!
author: A Harrogate, England FanGordon Wright, the lead singer of Fooled by April, played a solo gig in Harrogate England in September 2006 in which he focused very much on playing the absolutely fabulous songs from this CD. After every song the crowd bayed for more, as most were fans and they knew what delights were still to be played! The venue sold out of beer and the gig will be remembered in town for years. Fabulous Songs, Great Beer!
Greatest band I've ever heard!
author: JustinI absolutely love this cd! These guys are, in my opinion, the best band I've ever listened to. The lyrics are just fantastic, ranging from "I can't quit singing this" (New Song) to "How great was that song?" (Nice to See You). My only regret is not finding out about FxA sooner!
One of the Top 5 CD's purchased in my life !
author: ChadI bought this cd for the sole pupose of the song "Nice to See You" but the rest of this album kicks collective ass around almost all other artists out there. I rave to all my friends and they ask who the group is every time they ride w/me as the cd hasn't left my car in weeks. The rest of the collective population needs to jump on this bandwagon.
of course it's fantastic
author: Sarah KorvalOne of the best power-pop groups to grace Boston's stages. At least the CD helps ease the pain! Great CD, guys :)

INFECTIOUS
author: CHINASKIThe best word to describe the tunes on this CD is INFECTIOUS. Fooled By April have produced a group of polished and fun songs that will get you up out of your chair and dancing like a fool. Terrific stuff, you're gonna love it.
Best. Album. Ever.
author: Bill BoonnFXA Rocks!! Can't wait for the next album... (gotta keep my fingers crossed) :)
A great transition from super fabulous to absolutely excellent in one CD
author: Charles from Harrogate, EnglandSo sad that the group have split but these songs will last forever. I've just bought seven CDs from Gordon and I will be putting them all over London at record labels in July until one has the good sense to sign them. OK, I'm a mad old English enthusiast but I just love their songs and FxA and the music just zings with the best.
