notes

Freefall is an eclectic group of Jazz and Rock musicians from the Toronto area. Touching on World Beat, Rock and Jazz with influences as diverse as Joni Mitchell, Ralph Towner and Shakti , the band loves to roam the musical range. Featuring master percussionist Penner MacKay ( anyone who builds their own Kodo Drums from discarded wine barrels must be into it! ) Check out Penner's website if you are into drums of any kind. Barrelhouse Drums, www.vaxxine.com/bhdrum

Peter Smith on saxophones and flute is a highly experienced musician, who has been playing and teaching the music he loves, Jazz, for many years. Starting out playing in Rock and R'n B bands, Pete now leads his own Jazz and Funk bands, The Peter Smith Quartet and PSQ Funk. Take a look at Peter's website www.potesmote.ca/
Fretless Electric and acoustic Bassist/Percussionist,c Rahlen Sullaphen's early loves were the music of Rush and Jaco Pastorius and Shakti. His playing is distinguished by a sinewy rhythmic feel and a melodic sense that is very much his own.

Singer/writer/guitarist and visual artist Martin Springett is the leader of the band. Martin has performed and recorded in England Europe and Canada. A voracious love of all kinds of music has lead Martin to this particular musical point as a composer, never turn away an influence if it sounds good, and feels emotionally right. Check out Martin's website www.martinspringett.com

Guests on the CD include the brilliant Bansuri player Ron Allen, one of the finest practitioners of the wooden flute in North America. Kevin Laliberte on flamenco guitar. Kevin has been touring the world with guitarist Jessie Cook recently and has a beautiful CD out called Elation, available right here on CD Baby.
