notes
Becca Gohn is a contemporary performing artist and singer-songwriter whose voice captures both the smooth brassiness of singers like Billie Holiday while embracing a childlike quality reminiscent of pop artists like Donna Lewis. Her distinctive song-writing blends thought-provoking lyrics and engaging melodies with her unique and captivating vocals, giving rise to an overall musical style that brings a refreshing twist to the genre of adult contemporary music. With strong influences in both jazz and pop music, her song-writing and vocal approach often detour more prominently into those areas. Her background in classical music and the subtle blending of folk influence can also be perceived upon a closer listen to her music.
Becca's debut album "Recollections", released in 2002, was her first major undertaking into the world of recording. As an independent artist, Becca wrote, financed and co-produced this twelve track collection of piano and vocal ballads with the help of fellow singer - songwriters, Andy and Denise. With a full-time career in accounting to "pay the bills", this endeavour was no small feat for the young artist.
2008 brings with it the release of her most recent venture, a 5 song EP at Morning Star Studios with producer Glenn Barratt, featuring some of her more recent material including the sultry "It's always you" and the inspirational "Into the Blue".

Worth a listen
author: J. LeeIt is so hard for independant musicians to break into the limelight. This album is both refreshingly new, and yet familiar and only needs to be heard to be appreciated. East coast Jewel
