notes

The recorders as performed here by Jodie Goldney are stunning instruments with a sound clear like a bell. The most exciting part of her play is the absolute liveliness in sound reflecting her personality. She demonstrates here the recorder in many varieties from the tiny sopranino to the large bass recorder.
The choice of music ranges from middle age dances, Renaissance variations and Baroque Sonatas to contemporary compositions including by her accompanier Georg Mertens, who dedicated his unique "Muticultural Suite" for recorders and cello to their Duo recital series.

Biography:
Jodie Goldney and Georg played first concerts together in 1992. These concerts seemed to have been a surprise experience for the audience. They asked numerous times during the next decade when the Duo would perform next time - which was impossible because of the distance they lived apart. As soon as Jodie and Georg lived closer together they decided to perform together again.

Jodie was born in Bathurst (Australia), did her diploma at the age of 16, followed by a master degree of recorder at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
German born Georg Mertens is a virtuoso of cello and guitar, trained at the prestigious Staatliche Hochschule fuer Musik in Freiburg / Germany. He has performed hundreds of solo concerts across Europe and Australia (see also his CD's for guitar and cello solo).

Georg Mertens published recently his ground breaking systematic analysis of bow technique (can be viewed at the linked website)
