notes

WOW! Grian, you are one of my favorite singers...what arranging, what a package! I love John Ed Hammet. Also I love the cajun sound; never thought of that possibility but love it.

The whole thing is great, and the package is great...you are really something. I hope this does real real well for you; you deserve it!

-Peter Berryman, really good songwriter

"Your tape is in our dashboard RIGHT NOW!"

- John Forster, another really good songwriter

"This is better than television!"

The One-Woman Show With A Cast Of 75

Suspicions confirmed! Despite public outcry, the irrepressible one-woman puppet troupe known as “The Ivy Vine Players” has produced another outbreak of songs and stories. From the Toy Theater Festival in New York to the Festival of Romance in New Zealand, from the playgrounds of Ecuador to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, puppeteer Grian MacGregor (in the guise of a walking theater) is more than half-way to her goal of presenting puppet shows on every continent on Earth.
The company was founded back in 1981, when MacGregor left her teaching job, and never went back. “Puppetry was a natural step,” she says. “School is largely theater, anyway.” For over twenty years, MacGregor has split her time between her studio and tours to schools, libraries, and theaters on four continents. “But still, I keep coming back to North America ”, she says. Is it true that adults occasionally outnumber the children in the audience? “That's a risk we're perfectly willing to take...” says Grian MacGregor- founder, spokesperson, creator of each puppet and prop, and the only human member of the troupe. “This is one puppet show that doesn't discriminate according to age.” Any old puppet company can get a gig in a library or preschool. Where else can you find one versatile enough (or desperate enough) to perform in college dining halls, moving railroad cars, or even wedding receptions (on four continents so far)?

This CD starts with a sandwich and ends up at royal banquet table, encountering lovable eccentrics along the way. It'll tickle your funnybone and make you think. You'll love these songs and stories.Truly a delight for all ages.
