HARD 'N PHIRM: A BIO
Hard 'n Phirm began performing musical comedy together in the Spring of 1994 at UCLA. The next year, they won Spring Sing, UCLA's annual school-wide talent show. Baffled by the cold truth that there is, in fact, no money in the school talent show circuit, they disbanded to pursue other interests, vowing to reunite exactly eight years later. Their debut album "Horses and Grasses" contains songs about The Carbon Cycle, Pi, The Loyal Order of Moose, patriotic dinosaurs, and "Rodeohead," a bluegrass medley of Radiohead songs. They worked very, very hard on it. Hard 'n Phirm are both able and anxious to display their comedy wares for an 18-34 year old audience with a hilarity-smoothie of stand-up, music and multimedia slide presentations. They currently reside in Los Angeles and are nice.

Nerds FTMFW!
author: GiggleloopI loved this CD, and I wish the guys would go on tour, so I could see them play live!
Fuckin AWESOME sexy NERDS!!!!!!!!!!
author: TaraLynnSo I am totally intent on meeting Chris Hardwick and having him sign my pants. O wait, about the CD, the best CD I have ever heard in my entire life. It has taught me a lot about myself and the person I want to be. ALso, suprisingly, jts listening to me helped me loose 3 pounds.
This album is like hot steamy nerd sex
author: TuesdayThanks to this CD, I now know about 50 digits of pi. My question is, where is Hard 'N Phirm's second album with "Not Illegal" on it? My other question is, which one of you two wants to date me?
Wonderous Compact Disk
author: JakeThe first thing I did was memorize most of the songs, most notably the rap break down in "Pi". the whole Cinnamon Bun thing actually works too! (they where delicious)
Full Of Win And Sauce
author: Akira!I borrowed this CD from a friend a few months ago, and had to buy it for myself. Excellent work, guys.
Entertaining and unusual. Quirky, even.
author: jamesSome absolute gems on this CD (the Pi song was the track that sold me this CD, and Rodeohead is hilarious), but every track has a sense of fun combined with fine musicianship to make it a very entertaining album. Jolly good.
Great fun, good music
author: Mike DiehlThere's a lot of funny stuff on this CD, set to some very good music. Mostly, though, I enjoyed the thinking behind the best of these pieces. They're clever, and a few more than a little quirky. "Rodeohead" is a brilliant parody, as is "El Corazon." Only "American Dinosaur" tries too hard to be funny, IMO. A bit of the humor is of the sort that might appeal to adolescent boys. Though I'm chronologically beyond my teenage years, I still laugh. A lot. But apart from the mild bathroom humor, there are many and diverse targets for Hard 'n Phirm's acerbic pen, and the fun they poke takes many forms, all appropriate to the subject and all very entertaining.
makes me to laugh!
author: ChimpinallsThey have said that The Beatles could never happen again. This cd does little to refute or support this point. I liked what it sounded like though. If this review hasn't convinced you to buy this cd, then I don't even know you anymore.
Genius
author: randyAn eclectic mix of styles, each one done with skill and panache, culminating in an album of laugh-out-loud parodies. Love it!
I love it!
author: ValVery entertaining and quite enjoyable! I love it!

(Boy that's a) Kick-ass album
author: AndreasThe album is real awesome! Got it last week and never could stop to hear it. My favorites are 'Pi' and, of course, 'El Corazón' (my heart really missed a beat :-) Despite the fact that I didn't quite get the joke in 'Ready' (being a german), most of the songs made me laugh, especially 'The Camping Song' and 'Anything' with its pointed bottom-lines. But 'Funkhauser' really had me rolling on the floor. Hard 'N Phirm: A carbon date with destiny
Awesome! Funniest CD ever!
author: Bob McNobleAwesome! Funniest CD Ever! These guys beat even Weird Al. I loved the Carbon Cycle especially.
Creative and extremely funny. "Rodeohead" is a classic!
author: Andy ZVery creative and extremely funny! I bought this CD for "Rodeohead", but now I have 14 other reasons to listen.
FUNNY ASSED DEBUT!!!
author: Dino-MikeI was crying laughing as I listened to the songs... with such great messages in the songs... some even seem to be educational! I must have for anyone interested in comedy music!!!
Something for everyone
author: Norm from GeorgiaIf you like your satire, sweet and sour, this is the CD for you.
Awesome :)
author: PeterGreat sound and hilarious lyrics.

Very hilarious. Entertaining to both the recipient (34 years old) and our son (9). Of course we adults laugh at things that go over the 9 year old's head (like the over-the-head joke) but are having a good time explaining things to him.
Funny!
author: Leigh AnnVery creative and clever... Love the Pi song especially!
Hard 'N Phirm: Horses and Grasses makes my Corazon go pitter pat.
author: Lydia in SFHard 'N Phrim's Horses and Grasses has a little bit of something for everyone. My favorite is Pi with its funky dance beat. It probably competes with El Corazon for the romantic song of the album. You can't help but sing along with the nationalistic, American Dinosaurs. And you can't forget the reason you bought the album, the popular Rodeohead. It's a rockin' 40:22 to eat Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls to.
This album was the greatest thing I have ever heard.
author: darkklord1987@aol.comThie Horses and Grasses album was the best thing that I have ever heard in my whole life. It was at times funny and educational in a good way.
This is so awesome
author: WolfzbaneMoose lodge is the absolute best song I have ever heard. And certaintly most addicting. I eagerly await my cd to arrive. I listened to the clip of Moose lodge for 30 minutes staight and realized I could not stop listening to it!

Superawsometotalyamazingwow!
author: Kendall SharpeThis CD is amazing, I saw Hard N Phirm on the Screensavers and I was hooked. I couldn't get it out of my head. tracks like "The Carbon Cycle", "American Dinosaur", "Pi", "She Named The Pony Jesus" and others really show of what Hard N Phirm and really I cant wait for another one. Buy this one now.
Hi-larious!
author: BibSaw them on Kimmel, bought the CD that night, especially enjoy the intensity of "El Corazon" and the inspired "American Dinosaurs". And I was moved to make Pilsbury Cinnamon rolls-thanks!
the words "twisted" and "genius" spring to mind...
author: ed mortonthe obviously brilliant Rodeohead is surpassed only by the indescribably funky/funny Funkhauser. Invest in this CD immediately if you have a sense of humour.
Dynamite!
author: TheresaLove this album! Super funny, and the lyrics haunt me a little bit.... I can't stopity the clippity cloppity of "She Named The Pony Jesus" from going through my brain.
Wonderfully funny cd! Seriously and Cdbaby is top notch!
author: Noah BaasI was really excited and couldn't wait to get it. The cd is hilarious. Little shorts and funnys. The songs are just wonderful. Not to mention using Cdbaby was excellent. Seriously the best shop online I've used. They had my cd to me within a few days. That's quality!
Great stuff.... and poop too!
author: Chris Rockwell - The Daily DownloadVery cool stuff... funny but groovy at the same time. And they talk about poop, how could you go wrong?
Astounding job for a first opus
author: Kerwood DerbyHard and Phirm meritoriously carry the baton passed by Yankovic, Zappa, and TMBG. Their sense of humor and their musicality carry equal weight on this album. Their skewering of "bandwagon" evangelicals is especially refreshing in the current period of artistic cowardice. I highly recommend this album to anyone with catholic tastes and a broad perspective.
i love love love it.
author: claudthis cd is infectious. really, i had to go to mexico for off market antibiotics. i love it more than my mother. she hit me, but still...
Great songs cooked until they're funny and golden brown around the edges
author: Nathan VHorses and Grasses is musical comedy that operates on several different levels of genius. Sometimes the jokes don't deliver until the last 30 seconds (and these are the ones that are often the funniest). Hard N Phirm's best joke, however, is that, beyond the humor, these are actually incredibly well-crafted songs. Everyone with ears should buy this album. Epics include She Named the Pony Jesus, El Corazon, and, of course, Rodeohead.
Impressive debut album
author: Random FunninessAfter seeing the impressive Hard n' Phirm duo live, one would assume that a CD -- without video -- from Hard 'n Phirm would not bring out their talents. One would be wrong. They impress yet again in this very original, quite odd collection of gems. Buy it! But keep your guard up while you're cooking.
John Peel would have just loved it
author: The current entire UK fan baseIt's been a long wait since the first songs appeared on the web but its been worth it. Let's hope it gets some airplay in the UK 'cos there's a lot of folks over here who like this stuff. My favorite? Got to be Funkhauser because, whether by coincidence or not, it's a fine tribute to Viv Stanshall's Intro and Outro. John would have liked that.
this cd goes to 11
author: jayne southI also heard them on Indy 103 driving into work, and I almost went off the road from laughing so hard. I just couldn't believe it. BUY THIS CD! You'll love it. I don't even know which song is my favorite yet, tho when I tell friends to listen to some of the samples, I usually start with American Dinosaurs. USA #1!! Just be careful - this CD literally *did* sneak in my back door and shoot me while I was cooking.
Is it a music album, or comedy it's both!
author: BillyboyI heard the songs PI and Anything on Dickie Barret's show at Indy 103 FM. Immediately, I knew the CD must be mine! As it turns out, all the tracks are equally great. This is an intelligent comedy album that you can keep listening to because the music stands proudly on it's own.
intelligent parody
author: Sara B.Fun, intelligent, and dreamy too. If you like Patton Oswalt and Zach Galifianakis you'll like these guys as well. They're funny and they rock!
