notes
Keeping strictly to the tradition of the self accompanied blues-singer, Don Haupt packs the sound and energy of a full band into a one man show. Whooping vocals and a hefty hand on the guitar playing backed by a right foot not just tapping but stomping the stage so hard it is felt through the floor clear into the back row.
The songs are old standards from the 20s and 30s, dusted off and polished clean again. Songs like Son House’s “Preachin Blues” and Robert Johnson’s “Traveling Riverside Blues” are performed with conviction enough to turn any venue into an old-time swamps of Louisiana juke joint.
Brass slide perched on his pinky and guitar at the ready, the bluesman plays the real thing cause he’s lived it.......driving semi-trucks through the mountains of the west, working on Mississippi river towboats, bucking haybales, and washing dishes in a multitude of low-end restaurants. Think of guitar slides cut from whiskey bottles, worn out shoe soles, and prison farm field hollers. Think of the weariness that lies in the hearts of men old before their time and of going down to the crossroads at midnight to give the devil his due.
"Lots of energy and a footstomping devotion to real Delta blues" - Catfish Keith
"Don Haupt plays the blues like it's the only thing keeping him sane" - Mike Dronkers...Music Director KHUM/FM

very pleased
author: swgI came across Haupt's name in a review on another website and was intrigued. I was even more intrigued when I learned he played a National Delphi. I own one and play it casually. Haupt plays it gorgeously. He truly incarnates the delta feel, and we need to support that.
Transports to the dusty roads of the Old South!
author: MSFSTLSteady Rollin' Man captures Don Haupt and his unique and almost possessed guitar style. Filled with calssic Delta blues, this is definitely a CD you'll listen to again and again!
