notes

Helane Fontaine might change your life; "Love is an Action Verb" could seduce you.

since 2000, she has been singing in clubs with great musicians to refine her signature style, legato smooth phrasing over the measure and delightful surprises sprinkled throughout. The pairings with Loston Harris, Royce Campbell and Hod O'Brien during 2002 evolved into this CD. She grew up loving jazz vocalists like the Andrews Sisters, Keely Smith and Ella Fitzgerald but only recently switched her professional style from Americana to this new cabaret and lounge jazz.

She has studied music, guitar, piano and dance since the age of four. She currently serves as a voice coach for actors. And is a big fan of Americana Roots music.

Helane has an MBA in International Management from Thunderbird and a BA in International Relations from the College of William and Mary. She speaks Spanish, French and German with some proficiency and has traveled extensively through Europe and Mexico.

  • Beautifully, lyrical music.

This album is energized with all that makes jazz an American tradition!

  • Prepare to be SEDUCED!
    author: John R.

Helane's distinctive style is like a gentle kiss and a soft caress. Her version of the standards put them in a whole new light. And, she generously shares the spotlight with legends like Royce Campbell and Hod O'Brien. Favorite tracks: (1) Deed I Do and (9) a crisp remake of Lullaby of Birdland. If you truly love jazz, you'll love this CD.
