Helen Trevillion is a British composer, arranger, songwriter, performer and producer of eclectic, modern ethereal faerie pop and classical-influenced songs and soundscapes. Heavily inspired by poetic imagery, ancient mythology, fairytale and Eastern philosophies, she uses music and lyrics to build collages of poignant life experiences. Piano, violin and delicate vocals combine with electronics to create a charming and magical canvas rich with emotion.

Helen fell in love with writing music as a child, enthralled by how many worlds were contained in sound, how profoundly it spoke of the feelings there are no words for. What began as a hobby became a necessity, a passion and an alchemic path. Inspired in her teens by the unlikely charms of old-school video game soundtracks, her first musical endeavours on the internet were soundtracks for independent video games and arrangements of existing video game themes, which she unleashed to the online world under her alias 'Destiny'.

In 2005 she won the categories of 'Best Unsigned Artist' and 'Best Song By Unsigned Artist' at Radio Rivendell's Fantasy Awards with her haunting orchestral work The Mermaid, based on Jan Siegel's book Prospero's Children - the song was later released by Waerloga Records on the Radio Rivendell Compilation CD.



:: INSIDE MYSELF / ONCE UPON A TIME ::

Spanning two CDs, this debut album was created entirely within the four walls of her bedroom as a solo project.

The first disc, 'Inside Myself', is a collection of the artist's self-produced songs from the past 4 years, which vary in style from epic and poetic classical landscapes to electronic fusions and intimate piano pop.

The second disc, 'Once Upon A Time', is a concept album exploring the multi-layered nature of popular fairytales through music and lyrics.

    I've known and been a fan of Helen's music since 2001, and I can confidently say that this CD contains her very best work. Intensely personal and entirely universal at the same time, Helen's songs and compositions are the soundtrack of a rich internal landscape that she generously shares with the listener. Her voice in hauntingly beautiful, and you'd never guess that much of the instrumental elements are all done on a computer. I can not recommend this album strongly enough. In fact, you ought to buy two, because once you here it you're sure to want to give a copy to at least one friend.

    To know Helen's music is to know her. Inside Myself is a deeply personal account of a creative mind sometimes at odds with the world but one that is uncompromising in its willingness to see the beauty in all things. The music on this album are as varied as the artist herself, with no two songs sounding alike. Any lover of music ought to have this album.

    I'm really having difficulty defining exactly how I feel about this album. I can go as far as brilliantly musical, beautifully mysterious, truly a work of art, and ultimately inspiring before I start trying to explain it with colours like white, gold, pieces of pink and purple, a shiny yet hidden touch of light blue, dabs of red here and there, and faded green sections. After this my whole system starts to break down and I use words that don't actually exist in an attempt to define it, like eeeerumnuhhhsssuh... eerumnuhsuh. If that makes sense to you then definitely buy this album!

    "Wonderful" really is the right word - Helen Trevillion's music is filled with wonders. From the gentle beauty of "Over The Waterfalls" to haunting, atmospheric pieces like "Ivory" and "The Mermaid", this album comes straight out of Faerie. You will be listening to this over and over again.
