notes
“I wanna see you rock
I wanna see you roll
Cause if dancing is the way to praise baby
Then save your soul
Cause it’s a right time for a good time tonight”
-Right Time by Holding Out
Hailing from Portland, OR, Holding Out has been playing music around Oregon for the last 3 years. From the very beginning, Holding Out has been about making sure every person in the audience has a good time. With their own unique blend of rock, blues and lots of amazing vocals, Holding Out strives to create their own sound while working toward the eventual crash into stardom.
Their music has been described as though a mad scientist took equal parts blues and rock, along with some hip hop, a smidgen of indie/pop, a dash of country, and pushed frappe on the blender of love. The result is an interesting smoothie that is not only tasty, but is so good to have inside of you. Their influences include Lenny Kravitz, John Mayer, U2, Eagles, Amos Lee, and, of course, Johnny Cash.
Fast forward to April 27th, 2007 as the members of the band Holding Out took the stage to record their first live album. The energy of the crowd rippled through the night from the first few seconds to the final track. The band was tight and well-practiced with most of the songs on the album being new. The sound engineer even remarked “The crowd sound so big that you guys sound like you are in the Rose Garden”. Well…they were not but that day is just around the corner. Do yourself a favor and buy the album so you can say you got the first live album and you can say that you knew them when!
