I can't stop write a review for HOLLINS STEELE's music in spite of language barrier by became a captive of their music.Their music sense is distinguished and elegant. Dayna sung from passion music to a ballad very wealthily, and her singing voice is attractive by studied the classical music influence. Live video clips of Tongue Tied,Falling,Worst Enemy on HOLLINS STEELE's website. Please check it out! HOLLINS STEELE is an appearance of a new face splendid again. I can't get my eyes and ears off to HOLLIN STEELE for the future. In addition, it becomes a big advantage for me that lyrics are attached to CD. I want to hear a duet song of Benny and Dayna in love ballad in next new album.Thank you for Dayna and Benny's excellent music.

  • Matchless!
author: Laura T Lynch of Kweevak.com

Hollins Steele's sound is 80's inspired pop/rock with crisp production, complex arrangements and strong rhythms. Dayna pens insightful lyrics about personal experiences and relationships. They utilize classical musical textures with modern mixes to craft a sound that is distinctively their own. Songs From Vanderbilt Avenue features a professional lineup of players who have worked with various artists ranging from Match Box 20 to Steely Dan. The beat heavy 'Tongued Tied' and the orchestrated 'Falling' were the standouts on this quality CD. The instrumentation throughout is interesting and varied. Dayna is a strong, versatile vocalist and the musicianship is matchless. Hollins Steele is power pop with a purpose!

  • Energetic and Edgy
    author: Lin Wu

I love this CD! It is lively and energetic, and hip and totally modern--and it is musically a cut above the rest. Hollins' voice has an amazing range--from sweet and sexy to edgy and sultry. And you can tell that this dynamic duo (and beautiful, I might add) was classically trained by the sophistication of their compositions. Falling is my favorite track.

  • As soon as you hear the opening track, you know this is going to be a solid albu
    author: Keith "MuzikMan" Hannaleck

If all that glitters is gold then Hollins Steele has an album titled Songs From Vanderbilt Avenue that is cache of sparkling pop rock. It all sounds crisp and clear backed by a superior production. When you can get all of those elements going for you together it creates an atmosphere that perpetuates a winning attitude. This CD is as good as any of the pop rock that is selling by the millions today, which proves one thing, not all of the best music is heard.

  • Editor's Pick!
    author: J-Sin

Beginning with astounding vocal harmonies and sampled street sounds, you buckle yourself in tight, readying your body and soul for a truly great experience. The pop-rock duo of Dayna Hollins and Benny Steele write engaging songs that build off of imaginative and sincere lyrics that offer a genuine glimpse inside the head of two great songwriters. Recorded and produced in their very own Brooklyn studio, the album is a tantalizing affair with bubbly hooks that will knock you back, staggering with jaw agape in amazement. Post-modern pop-rock this delicious is a rare find but it's a gem whose polishing can lead to blindness. Get this now.

  • DELICIOUS!!!!
    author: Tim Wilkins

The album is awesome! Sounds are rich and unique.

  • Songs From Vanderbilt Avenue is a sterling debut from Hollins Steele
author: Gina, Evolution of Media Entertainment

The sparkling music on Songs From Vanderbilt Avenue (the location of their recording studio) reminds me of British synth pop acts like Naked Eyes, Climie Fisher, and Tears For Fears, while Dayna Hollins' full-bodied vocals give the album a feel reminiscent of such female-fronted bands as The Motels, Concrete Blonde and (especially) 'Til Tuesday. From the opening "Prelude: Vanderbilt Avenue in C Minor" sliding into the hit-single-ready "Tongue Tied" to "Falling" (which Madonna could have covered in her True Blue period) to "Fill Me In" (which is Tears For Fears fronted by Aimee Mann) to the gorgeous "20/60 Eyes", the album rarely misses a beat. Songs From Vanderbilt Avenue is a sterling debut from Hollins Steele; so good in fact that major label attention should be just around the corner.
