Out of Sight!
author: DON FORBESSI have seen Jiggernaut live only twice. The first time I heard them I knew they were special. And it is not because I personally know Deanna, Matthew and Rodger from other bands (Free Whiski and The Blarney Brothers). It is because the entire band is so talented and down to earth. On the very first song, Deanna simply blew me away with her singing. I realize this is a studio recording and their live performances are simply electric, but you can hear all the small nuances normally lost at a live performance. This is a top notch CD for those of us who appreciate great Celtic rock'n roll.
Addictive
author: Steve TreadwayI've seen these guys live 5 or 6 times in the Dallas area and they are really fun in person. This is a studio recording which loses some of that live atmosphere that they generate as they connect to the crowd. But it's definately worth the money. I find myself humming the songs all through the day.

I believe that 'The Corgi Set' is the quintessential crossover track that will surely turn the heads of numerous music directors in the World, Triple A, and Rock genres. Its modernized production mixed with its traditional construction demands attention. 'The City Boy Set' is a charming, danceable track whose lively soundscape provides its listener with uplifting remedy for the daily blues of reality. 'Kishmul's Galley' is a deep stirring, strongly executed track. The soul-wrenching harmonies are clearly miniature works of art within a larger canvas.

In this high-energy, constantly moving release, Jiggernaut has managed to cram just about everything that could possibly be put in one CD. What else could be expected when the band’s roster reads like a Southwest regional musician’s Who’s Who? The musical baby of well-known regional musicians Wolf Loescher (SixMileBridge, Two O’Clock Courage, Poor Man’s Fortune), Rodger Harrison and Matthew Williams (the Blarney Brothers), Richard Kean (Poor Man’s Fortune, Tartanic), Brendan O’Sullivan (Full Circle), and Deanna Smith (Full Whiski) Jiggernaut’s In Search of More jumps with raw vitality and energy. Ladies first, Deanna Smith’s solo vocals were impressive on the pre-release, and remain that way throughout the entire project. Warm and smooth, they remind me of a glass of good peat smoked whiskey, going down easy, and then packing a powerful punch. I Have Come to Take My Boy Home, Home Front , and Kishmul’s Galley are all fine, yet varied, examples of her capabilities. (Also see a review in this release of Smith’s own CD). Wolf Loescher’s clean vocals reminiscent of James Taylor can be heard throughout on Carlton Weaver, Amazing Grace Again (a Loescher original), and Best o’ the Barley, but his abilities to manipulate a variety of instruments, including bouzouki, bouzar, guitar, and various percussion instruments are what really shine on this project. Brian McNeill (an NTIF 2002 headliner) adds his unique brand of fiddle-playing on The Corgi Set, Amazing Grace Again and Best O’ the Barley. Categorizing themselves as a “neo-Celtic groove-a-latious mondo pop indulgence” the full and rich harmonies created by Jiggernaut throughout this project are superb examples of the depth of musicianship found in this group of performers. Dynamic rhythms, quick-moving melodies, and a sense of fun and true enjoyment on the part of the performers make this CD a “must-have” for anyone’s collection. Most listeners will find themselves either tapping a toe or getting up to dance full out to the majority of tunes on this release. Hopefully, Jiggernaut will continue to jigger on for a long time to come.
