notes
It is with a great deal of pleasure that New York City's Josh Dion Band are ready to present 'Anthems For the Long Distance'. The full-length studio album is the culmination of several years of regional and international touring, during which time they developed a unique sound, which can be best described as powerful roots-rock. The music you will hear on 'Anthems..' is the result of 5 days of hard work in the trenches. The goal was to make this album sound as 'organic' and real as possible. All basic tracks were recorded live in a Brooklyn studio. Lead singers Josh Dion and Sarah Versprille then sang together in the same room. Daniel Hindman's guitar solos were complete takes with no punches. Overdubs were limited to only the necessary. Also noteworthy is that 'Anthems..' is a completely independent effort. After 3+ years of existence and the assistance of many along the way in their career, this JDB album is brought to you solely by the five longtime friends and members' efficient business model which they call 'the office'. This means that no record labels, producers or 'big whigs' were responsible for the final result of this recording. 'Anthems for the Long Distance' is what the Josh Dion Band sound like when they step on stage and pour their hearts out to an audience. They sincerely hope you enjoy.

Couldn't put more than 5 stars!
author: Andrew SkarvinkoYeah, wow. I'll admit I was getting very antsy for this album to come out but now that it has I can't turn it off! From one song to the next, the energy, grooves, solos and technical soundness make this an album to cherish. Each member of the band completely rips it up and Josh's soulful voice pushes the sound to the max! With a blend of blues, funk, rock and soul, the Josh Dion Band creates one of the most unique sounds around that is fitting for any mood or occasion. I play this CD, and their other two discs, at BBQs, parties, in my car, at my house, at my job and everywhere in between and always at a high volume. Check out the JDB, what are you waiting for?!?
Say it loud!!!!
author: Lauren Drewthis album was so worth the wait! The energy that this band displays is contagious! We took "Anthems" with us on vacation to Spain, Mallorca, and France and we played it loud! Keep it coming....it just keeps getting sweeter!

This album is the Josh Dion Band's finest recorded effort so far. The writing, vocals, arrangements (horns now!), solos, and the vibe are all first rate. Only thing better is seeing them live!
Keep on!
author: JL GamezI've got 3 great cd's from this band. Exqisite music, beautiful taste, great energy, top level music execution. Looking forward to see the band sometime in Barcelona. FIVE STARS!

i see josh dion band in Cáceres, Spain, and i fall in love.
Yes.
author: William OliverThe Josh Dion Band has always been amazing, but this album comes closer than their debut to conveying the energy and overall vibe of their live shows, with improved songwriting. Their guitar player, Dan Hindeman, has become a soulful beast of a player. The bass and drum grooves are incredible. Hell, everyone sounds amazing. The Josh Dion Band is sounding more like a classic American rock and roll band with R&B elements, rather than a NY club scene band.
