notes
"Songs about lost lovers, old friends, inanimate objects, the quandary of balancing money against art and the best ode to Mom since Tupac rapped from his prison cell...Rock on, brother Jude." --- SNACK CAKE MAGAZINE
"The mid-American troubadour with the most amazing angelic tenor voice, at once reminds me of a persuasive, charismatic Dylan, a ragged and ripped jeans Jim Croce, and at times inherits the valuability of Tori Amos." --- ROCK LOVE
"Jude is a singer/songwriter from L.A. whose voice and vision hark back to a long-vanished time when a kid and his guitar meant something. You know, a young starving artist whose damaged life makes no sense until the moment he gets on stage and begins to sing. He carries his burden in a rambling bundle of songs that are autobiographical without being cloying or overly oblique. His voice is a pristine instrument that clarifies the ambiguous. It sensuously soars and glides as he reaches back into his forgotten inner self and pulls out this unbelievable falsetto some men would be ashamed to use." --- MAGNET MAGAZINE

reminds me of home
author: annathis takes me back to largo where i first heard this wonderful artist play years ago. he is amazing live, amazing on disk, and an amazing singer/songwriter. this is by far my favorite of all his cds.
I love it!
author: JulieI've been jamming to this album for years and never tire of it! I'm addicted and looking forward to Sarah ( Just ordered it)
Simple things are so great...
author: Marco (Portugal)Guitar, guitar, guitar... superb chords unique voice & wonderful words. What more could we ask for? THE only regret in this cd is not the quality of the work, but the quality of the SOUND of some tracks. It seems they were recorded / mixed by totally different persons on totally different locations. Even so, it’s a MUST!
A deeply poetic offering that's unlikely to happen again...
author: May BrennanIf you are new to Jude this is definitely the album to buy...it is by far the greatest thing he has ever produced. It would be redundant to mention the deeply poetic nature of his lyrics and his amazing voice (I think everyone gets that from the first listen). Although I will say this...one of the things that makes this album a gem is the fact that is captures Jude at his best...bare bones acoustic with the emphasis on his lyrics and his lovely voice. Unfortately, Jude's more recent style seems to try to incorporate a more poppy, band-oriented sound which takes away from the beauty of his songwriting. I'm not sure if it is the quality of his band or that he just shouldn't play with one, but it is a much more visceral experience when he plays alone...not sure if Jude himself knows this. I caught his Valentine show the other day, and it seemed to be the antithesis of all that is holy about this album...it was like listening to a mediocre band instead of a yearning, poetic soul like in his acoustic shows. Jude...dump the band please!!!!
Just Perfection
author: Carol ChapmanWOW! What can I say - never having heard of Jude before I now have most of his albums KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. Even my hubbie is hooked and it takes a lot to impress him.
Beautiful and Amazing
author: L. RussellThis CD has several of the same songs from No One is Really Beautiful, but I think it's worth owning both. The live tracks are increadable, his voice is so soothing and beautiful. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.
Beauty, talent, and then more beauty
author: Justin WJude's lyrics read like the beautiful Elliott Smith as a Beat poet. His voice has a perfect tone comparable to no one. This album shows off his pure songwriting talent before the labels and producers inevitably started breathing down his neck. If you love music like you should, buy 8 or 9 copies, just in case.
great...
author: erkla really good disc, and a so talented artist... so, just... waouh...
One man and his guitar, fabulous!
author: David HuntFantastic soul filled music, a Bob Dylan of my generation. Jude reaches into your heart and mind then transports you to the beautiful land. This is my first purchase from CD Baby, I'm in the UK, the service has been great, they sound like great people, keep up the good work and allow artists like Jude to avoid the major labels!
Fantastic! I love this CD!!!!
author: reneeMadonna is one of the most beautiful songs Im certain that I have ever heard. Jude has done it again.
True artist!
author: www.whoislux.comThere are no words to express the ingenuity of this artist
author: KCBeauAn incredible first album, Jude kicks boldness straight home. His word choice in songs, his attitude when he sings, and his emotion that he shows are enough to bring even the most uninterested listener to the verge of tears. He needs no background instruments to accompany his hypnotizing, melodic voice; it stands alone as the only music worth hearing.
North Harper is Great From the Very first Listen
author: djDumb.comNorth Harper is Great all around. Every song on here is good. My personal favorite is Out Of L.A. This CD Really Showcases all of Jude's sides. Great First Disc!!!
Jude is a GREAT artist
author: Jeffrey BrianJude is an amazing talent and I really like hearing his music when it's just him and the acoustic, especially on songs like "Out of LA" and "Prophet". His lyrics are clever, his voice is soothing and the songs are honest and from the heart. As a singer/songwriter myself, Jude is someone I have a genuine respect for. Keep writing great stuff man! I look forward to meeting you someday.
Wow! Completely Surprised!
author: Justin AllenI was so totally surprised at how good this album is. Every song is beautifully written and his voice is so incredible. And it's just a man and his guitar. So simple, yet so amazing.
Incredible!
author: AmyThis is an incredible CD, and I can't seem to get enough of it- neither can my roommate! Great lyrics, wonderful acoustics...what's not to like?
absolutely amazing
author: RexThe disc that started it all. An amazing listening experience, showcasing his rhythmic sensibilities and lyrical wit with just a guitar for accompaniment.
Wonderful!!!
author: CarlyI love this CD! I keep this CD in my car and can't listen to it enough. Every song has a great beat and terrific lyrics.
I like this cd!
author: MarcoThis cd really shows that Jude is an extraordinary artist. He has a beautiful voice and very good songs. I really like it! And his later cd's are even better! Jude is among the best singer/songwriters of our time.
Great CD
author: Mark RaviJude's first cd is fantastic. Has some live stuff. Very talanted singer/songwriter.
absolutely beautiful
author: JessenI love this cd specifically because most of his song are aucoustic. His voice flows and he's one of the best guitarists of our time. The lyrics are some of his best; one of my personal favorites- Babyruth in Atlanta. This cd really shows his talent.
