A smooth and jazzy bouquet of original songs, with a splash of soulful blues, a dash of cabaret , and a delicious twist of attitude and humor by pianist/vocalist Jack Woodbridge.

notes

Songwriter/performer Jack Woodbridge just wrapped his first CD, PICTURE THIS, on Oasis Records with Gold Record guitarist, Grammy nominee, and uber- record producer DEAN BAILIN ("The Pina Colada Song"/Rupert Holmes). He recorded 12 tracks with Dean, Sax Goddess “Sweet” Sue Terry, and legendary drummer Gene Wise (of Bill Evans Trio fame)

  • Spectacular!
    author: Paul Monsour

So, it's winter break here at NYU, and I'm just tooling away at work, editing math articles and listening to music. And lately, that means listening to "Picture This." Quite simply, the album is spectacular. I knew I liked it from my first listen this summer, but two days ago when I listened---really listened---I really got into it in a way that I rarely do with music anymore (and often did back in the day . . . ). In particular, "Welcome to the Best Night" just drew me in: the lyrics, the singing, the arrangement, the musicianship. And then I heard song after song as if for the first time. I can only crow and praise and laud and clap my hands. My current faves are "Welcome" and "Our Love Is Beautiful" (one can only describe the latter as swinging"---there's no better word for it). And of course "You Took My Heart" is a masterpiece. Ah, to listen to music that is heartfelt, positive, inspired, and human after the past decade or so of regimented, corporate ear clutter!

Liked the cd very much, not the same old stuff.

  • I can't recommend this CD enough.
author: Al Kasha - Two-time Academy Award winning songwriter.

Jack Woodbridge's words and music have Cole Porter's passion and melodies, the lyrical insights of Stephen Sondheim, and the singing quality of Harry Connick, Jr. I can't recommend this CD enough - it evokes every emotion that we go to, from drama to comedy.

  • I can't believe I actually KNOW this guy!
    author: Gene Moore

This CD is so full of grace and class. It really captures Jack's incredible sense of humor and wisdom. Every track is beautifully produced and mastered. Jack's voice is just world class good. His delivery just sells each song right from the first note. He's just got that thing, that undefinable greatness that just sucks you into every song he performs. Buy this disc. Don't wait another second.

  • A catching collection of some great new songs!
    author: John Catlett

Since I met Jack through a connection not involving music, I was really blown away to discover the engaging talent he displays on this CD. I've been listening a couple of times a day all week, and I'm really taking to quite a few of the songs, some of which I wouldn't be surprised to see referred to as standards in a few years' time.

  • Fabulous CD !!!

  • Keeps Getting Better
    author: William Morrison, Jr.

This is an excellent start to 2006. *Picture This* is a passionate exhibition of talent and control in each track. Jacks(Woody)ability to impress and astound remains strong, taking his listener into the sky and skimming across the surface of their senses. My man, your truly a gift, truly an adventure & truly wonderful music. If you enjoyed Jacks earlier stuff like I do. You'll love this.

  • The best collection of original songs I've heard in years!
author: Michael Estwanik, President, The Songbook Project; Former Presid

It is rare to find an artist who is able to write with such a gift for melody and lyrics which convey such feelings of romance, at such different stages. Mr. Woodbridge has given us a true treasure chest of new songs, songs which I am sure will soon be in the repertoire of other great singers. I highly recommend this CD to you. Like me, you won't be able to stop listening to this gifted songwriter and singer.
