Kamal Siegel was born in Punta Arenas, Chile and grew up in various parts of the country. Although his world centered on drawing and painting for many years, his artistic interests began to expand at the age of 15 when he picked up his father's guitar.
Kamal gradually developed his own fingerpicking style, learning by ear and those around him, combining elements of Jazz, Flamenco, Musica Social (Social Music) and Chilean Rock (influenced by bands such as "Los Tres" "Los Prisioneros" "Arka" and "Silvio Rodriguez").
Kamal now resides in Seattle, Washington and works as a graphic artist. His artwork can be seen at www.digitaldouble.net

Songs overflowing with inspiration and creativity!
author: Javier Duhart (album engineer and producer)The very first tunes Kamal ever played to me were "Escape" and "Primavera en Africa" and from that very instant I realized that they just HAD to be recorded. Since then, he has never ceased to surprise me; every new composition he shows me is always overflowing with inspiration and creativity. This album is a collection of Kamal's first compositions, hence the title. I truly hope to hear many more steps in the future! ------------ Las primeras melodías que alguna vez me mostró Kamal fueron "Escape" y "Primavera en Africa", y desde ese preciso instante me di cuenta que TENÍAN que grabarse. Desde entonces, nunca ha dejado de sorprenderme; cada composición nueva que me muestra está siempre rebosante de inspiración y creatividad. Este disco es una colección de las primeras composiciones de Kamal; de allí el título (Primeros Pasos). De verdad espero poder escuchar muchos mas pasos en el futuro!
