These are just some of the things people have to say about Katrina Parker and her debut EP "Only Dreaming." Six songs recorded in Los Angeles, CA and co-produced by award-winning composer Shaun Drew, "Only Dreaming" explores the myriad of mixed emotions associated with relationships between friends and lovers. The music is dreamy and intimate Alternative Pop; the voice is warm and inviting. Some of it's unabashedly romantic, some bittersweet, and some nostalgic.
When asked how she'd describe the theme of her work, Katrina replies "broken but hopeful - I think everyone's felt like this at some point. You're somewhat broken by life and relationship, but you still have this tiny kernel of hope for the future, this deep belief in something better." From the haunting resignation of the first track 'Killing Me' to the afterlife introspection of "Don't Forget" to the quiet faith of "All You Need,” it’s music made by someone who knows the struggle of life and the beauty that comes with it.
Currently you will find Katrina performing in the L.A. area at venues such as Genghis Cohen, The Viper Room Acoustic Lounge, Karma Coffeehouse, Room 5, and Masquer's Cabaret, connecting with her audience on a personal level with songs about love, loss, and life. She's in the progress of preparing for a new album in early 2007, a dramatic mix of vintage and electronic sounds and some darker waters thematically. In its early stages, it's been described as "Billie Holiday on acid crossed with Portishead at a Southern Sunday brunch" and "lush, gothic romanticism with a cabaret twist." Every copy of "Only Dreaming" you buy gets Katrina one step closer to finishing her new album. Thank you for your support!

Lives up to its title. Hypnotic and dreamy!
author: Derek HorneThis album is a cathartic emotional release as each song builds to a passionate climax. Katrina has the same expressive quality in her voice that Chris Martin does. I'm dying to hear her do some Coldplay covers next. Her flowing piano-playing compliments her soaring, dynamic voice and weaves a hypnotic spell that is as dreamy as the title of the album suggests.
WOW!
author: k8Passionate songs, with a phenomenal voice to sing them. If you like slow (mostly sad) songs, BUY THIS CD! I am so glad I did!
