notes
"The Naxos Catalogue is not short of guitar recordings and his must be one of the very best... Kevin Gallagher is a guitarist who totally understands the art of phrasing and line....Treat yourself, even if the program doesn't initially attract you - you will be amazed at the beauty of all this music." John Arron, Classical Guitar Magazine - May, 2000
Kevin R. Gallagher is recognized as one of America's leading guitarists. He began playing rock guitar in his formative years but his musical appetite quickly led him to study jazz and ultimately, classical guitar at the Juilliard School. Beautifully interpreted
author: Guitar LiveThis cd is a fantastic example of how to soulfully interpret this type of music while maintaining a clean technique and minimal fret noise. Clearly in the rankings of the greats such as John Williams, David Buckingham and Manuel Barrueco.
Beautifully articulated classical guitar with unique and expressive phrasing
author: Max LomaxBeautifully articulated classical guitar, unique phrasing, very relaxing and pleasing as backround for creative work, albeit the playing has multi-layers of depth and enjoyment.
Very strong and expressive playing. Beautiful tone.
author: Bob GilesI heard this CD first when I was in a bookstore wandering around. Kevin was playing a Dowland piece I'd played for many years called The Frog Galliard but he was playing it better than I'd ever hoped to and the ornamentation seemed unique. When I got the CD I found that it was consistant throughout with strong and expressive playing. His ability on Classical guitar is as good as anyones I've ever heard and I've got a collection that includes Segovia, Bream, Parkening, and Williams. Excellent work.
