Peaches from VH1's "Flavor of Love" uses her P-Funk schooling to put out an amazing new record. Recent winner of the 2005 JamCruise soloist competition, Kim Manning is an enticing organic treat; her full sultry movements, amazing voice, nearly five octave range, passionate lyrics, and accompany instrument skills have won audience members across the globe. Being a featured vocalist for George Clinton and the P-Funk All-stars, Kim has toured extensively through the US and around the world including the 2004 Grammy Awards, Fuji Rock Fest in Japan, The Montreux Jazz Fest and for audiences nearly at half a million.
Truly a singer/songwriter Kim broke through the LA scene accompanying herself on both Fender Rhodes and the guitar. Pulling together a band, Kim began performing at the House of Blues, Viper Room and originated as well as fronted an open improve jam forum "Jam Factory" titled after her residency at "Knitting factory" which prompted Norwood Fisher (Fishbone) to add her vocals to "Trulio Disgracios" -
But throughout all of this Kim has been excepted amongst the same jam community that she grew up on and has spotlight with Michael Franti, Jfjo, String Cheese Incident, Robert Walters, the Benevento/Russo Duo, Garaj Mahal, Papa Mali, the Everyone Orchestra, and Conspirator. Kim has also shared her amazing voice on stage and in the studio with such artists as Mike Gordon of “Phish”, Macy Gray, Tommy Lee, Snoop Dogg (213), Bootsy Collins, Battle Cat, and June Pointer (Pointer Sisters), as well as had the opportunity to study at Paul McCartney’s prestigious Liverpool institute of Arts in England.
Recently, Kim has been seen on TV in such shows as Vh1’s "Flavor of Love", “Boston Public”, “The Bernie Mac Show”, and as Rod Stewart’s piano player for “The Great American Song Book”. She is starring in the feature film "Room 33". She is also featured in Washburn/Oscar Shmidt's ad campaign. Her recently released indie LP “The Love and Light Activation”, produced by Brian Kehew (Fiona Apple, Moog Cookbook) successfully highlights Kim’s style of Junk-Rock, a fusion of Funk, Jazz, Rock, Reggie and a touch of folk, and features such players as George Clinton, The P-Funk Allstars, Norwood Fisher of Fishbone, The Benevento/Russo Duo, and members of Stockholm Syndrome.
Kim sings with such fervor about growing as a human and spirit that she can transform people while in the guise of her power and grace. Truly an activist with music, Kim sends out her message of love and light, tolerance, and unity with powerful lyrics and continuous grooves held down by fellow keyboardist Jason Chang. To see Kim Manning live is an amazing experience where you see an amazing singer and performer being exactly who she is.

I just bought this CD this weekend and absolutely love it! It is fantastic from start to finish. The mix of funk and rock (and even reggae) is unique and so fun to listen to. And your voice is exquisite! I just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying your music. It’s one of my very favorite CDs! I can’t wait for your next one. If you ever come on tour to Salt Lake City, Utah, I’d love to see you perform – I’ll be there on the front row!

    author: wilbur johnson

This cd might be described as lushly eclectic, with several songs that have a warm romantic feel and a few songs that are more uptempo. All of the songs are engaging, rhythmic and are permeated by the artist's personality and musicianship.
