crisp, acoustic/folk music, dynamic vocalist
author: A Boy Named SeoAfter hearing "Riding on Her Wings", a slick, beautifully produced track (by Stacy Parrish) on the SocyerMom Compilation, I bought "Those Crazy Fallin' Down Things". "Riding on Her Wings" was an accurate trailer for the entire album - a gifted guitar player, a poetic lyricist, and a dynamic vocalist. There is definitely a contrast in the production styles from the Water Studios-produced "Riding on Her Wings" and the rest of the album's tracks, which were all recorded and produced between By Hand and Knee Deep in Albuquerque, but the contrast is not a degradation in quality, in fact the remaining tracks all have a very intimate, organic, stripped-down mix. "Cross My Heart" is another very strong track, with Kimo adding lush harmonies to her own vocal line, but the accompanying violin (bright sounding, yet soft in volume) wandered through the melodies and really tied the whole song together. Also an interesting listen is "Gravensteins", a musical interpretation of an E.E. Cummings poem. Heartfelt, skillfully crafted acoustic music from Albuquerque. What more do you want? Two enthusiastic thumbs up.
this was an interesting listen.
