notes

From a tiny Island in Hawaii comes the sound of a Lion.
Living on the eastern shore of Kauai the Lambsbread brings
a mystic sound to the world.Singer/songwriter Kaya sings
with a powerful delivery and lyrics praising Jah.
Adding her beautiful voice throughout is vocalist/songwriter
Nadia. Nadia grew up in Miami with the Trinidad culture
of her mother. Together they deliver a music that all reggae
lovers will apriciate.
The tracks on the album are played by some of the top Jamaican reggae musicians including Santa Davis(soul syndicate),Jawge Hughes(keys),Nicky"cymbal"(Mystic Revealers)plus other top players. The tracks were recorded
in Kauai,and California.
The combination of these forces makes for one of the top
reggae albums ever released out of this reigon.

Solid CD-reminiscent of the original bay area group Strictly Roots led by the late Jah Son. A good addition to any Reggae fans collection. Hawaii is becoming a hotbed for roots reggae artists(Shimshai, Ooklah the Moc). You will especially love the female backround singing!

  • Nice-nice-nice....

Greetings and blessed love, Very nicely put together. Harmony is reminescent of Puma (Black Uhuru)sometimes. Great highs... mystic sounding. Very nice.

  • Great bass drum production, good harmony, reminds me of third world, and black sla

The group has an early 70's root touch to their sound with the added techno at their disposal.Their brass was to layed back on some of their tracks but great harmony.Great lead vocal and harmony.Bass and drum attack are excellent. very much in the third world vein. a little more dubbing would have been nice. There is conviction and passion in their lyrics.Great for meditation. also great cruisig music. More improvisation need on brass. great production, material;all and all a nice album to have if yah a rasta.

Roots reggae rhythms with plenty of bass, light dashes of horns,one-drop drumming and sutle sections of guitar and keys are highlighted by the vocal interplay of Matthew"Kaya" and Nadia Rathje on The Lambsbread,Sing Praise(Adin-nin). Contributing musicians include Santa Davis,Jawge Hughes and Sky Juice, names which insure quality.Unlike on,it is sad to say, many so-called "local band" cds,the two singers here stay in key and on pitch throughout despite performing some dexterous vocals.Their voices are so diferent from each other in range a pleasant balance is struck in the middle with Nadia's etheral highs complementing Matthew's forays into deep range. The Lambsbread's lyrics are all of serious intent with titles like "Open the Door","Push on Through","Strength", and "Work to Do" setting the inspirational tone and "Mystery Babylon" "Psalm 3"(in a meditative Nyahbinghi style) and "Sing for the Coming of Zion" Laying out the plan.Recorded at Golden Tracks Studios in Escondido, CA and in Wailua, HI, the tracks even the ones Santa, Jawge and Skyjuice don't play on- capture a reggae feel roots lovers will be very comfortable with. If the vocals had been swathed in echo and reverb you might compare the total result to the work of England's Alpha and Omega but one of the best things about the mix is that the vocals have been left "natural," perfectly in keeping with the inherent message of the songs. Pleasantly off the beaten path with potential mind, body, spirit crossover.

  • Tuff CD.Mystic sounds.open the door is my favorite track, like the dub of it too.
