Epic folk. Folk-rock with dramatic sincerity and a heavy heart.

notes

Born in Lander, WY Tyler Stenson (27) considers himself a cowboy. Now Portland based, he writes of those days as if a Midwestern Poet; blending the old country-side with the new city-scape and delivering his songs from the heart, simple and true. Front man for his band Lander and twice named the Portland Songwriters Association Performing Songwriter of the Year (2006 & 2007), Stenson’s sound is putting lumps in throats and attracting a train of followers that find a piece of themselves in the sincerity of his words.

This 11 track debut infuses folk compositions with timeless rock n' roll melody. Sentimental, sincere, even romantic, the song's lyric and mood stir up an emotional history. The tragedy of the commons: love and heartbreak, glory and ruin, hope and disappointment. Imagine campfires, long dirt roads and the epic story that is life and you've begun to imagine the sound of orange chrome sky.

-we could be in the atmosphere.

It is becoming less common for artists to develop a unique identity and remain true to their persona. Lander remains true to their sound and does not conform to the industry standard. They let their sound speak for itself. Listen!

  • Amazing.........

From the opening notes of the album orange chrome sky by Lander I knew this was going to be something special. Sure enough it was. Everything from the songwriting to the music it’s self was top notch. Keep in mind that the band made this album without any help from a major label. They took everything they had and put it into making this masterpiece. In a society where you’re only as good as your last single and 90% of every album is filled with one single and a whole lot of boring filler. This album is a complete breath of fresh air and does not sound like every other song on the radio nor does it have any filler. Every song on the album is excellent. You hit play and let the music take over your body without having to skip songs or start the album at your favorite song because they are all great. If you are like me and are sick of all of the processed cheese the radio and TV are shoving down your throat then do your self a favor and pick up this album. It’s got something for everyone folk, roots rock, country and 11 songs that will go straight to the heart and will not leave your CD player for a very long time. This is what music is all about. Trust me when I say you will not be disappointed.
