notes
Of Laura Distasi, a fellow artist once said, "Her music does what every songwriter wishes their music could do: it hollows you out, then fills you back in. It breaks your heart and builds you a new one. It moves you." Winters Never Quit, Laura's debut album released in 2005, captures both the vibrancy and isolation of city life. Her lyrics hit close to the bone and are heavy with imagery. She plucks moments from the everyday, holding up promise in one hand and heartbreak in the other. After creating tracks "No City Life" and "Expectations" with producer/guitarist, David Little, before ever actually meeting face to face, they each relocated, her from Boston and him from Charleston, SC, to NYC later that same year. Now the best of friends and musical partners, Laura and David are currently in the process of recording an EP due for release in Spring of 2007. They deliver a captivating, almost cinematic live show, rich and lush with layers of electronic beats, guitar loops, keyboards, and synths, which one reviewer described as "Postal Service with Sarah McLachlan at the helm". The songs feel their way through impressionistic landscapes, exploring the complexity and depth of relationships, and are nostalgic, yet hopeful, that anything worth lamenting is, once was, or could be beautiful.

tons of life in this cd!
author: Lynsey SteinbergI love Laura's original song, 'Moonsong' and I like 'No City Life' even better! She has a uncomputerized and beautifully sung voice on the cd and in person. Def. recommend.
Lyrically compelling, musically beautiful
author: DanaWinters Never Quit is a refreshingly mature debut album by an incredibly talented artist and poet. This record is bursting with catchy melodies to sing along to, intense lyrical energy, and probing, razor-edged imagery. What more could you want in a record?! Buy it. Right now. Really.
This is a great record ... Simply and Completely.
author: WhitThis is a great record ... Simply and Completely. The atmosphere is beautiful, the lyrics are powerful, and the songs are very moving. It's extremely rare that I hear something with this nice a blend of artistic quality and mainstream appeal. Great Job!
A must-have
author: Kimberly MadisonSeeing Laura Distasi perform solo is a pretty amazing experience...but for me, hearing her new debut album brings her music to a whole new level. Collaborating with a number of superb musicians, Laura weaves together the best qualities of genres like jazz, pop, electronic, and indie rock (to name a few) to create a fluent and striking album in a style completely her own - all the while never losing the intensity and vulnerability that is the essence of her live performances (and not to mention catchy songs that will stick in your head for days, or in your CD player for weeks on end!). Winters Never Quit is an incredible debut!
