notes

Thanks to the people at JustPlainFolks.org this CD is now award winning. It was voted the number 4 best children's album of 2004!!!

Let's take our homemade instrument band and sing and learn at the same time. We'll visit the solar system, peek in Mother Hubbard's cupboard, take a walk in the rain and check out some bugs. Bring your space helmet and rain boots.

Laura Freeman began singing for kids early on as a song leader when she was a girlscout. She moved into the world of musical theater and started writing and performing songs of her own. She has been entertaining audiences for more than ten years and singing at the table for as long as she can remember.

Her love for children has inspired a whole slew of educational and fun sing-a-long songs. Math, the Solar System, Alternative Energy and Composting are all explored with the aim to awaken the children's curiosity about these important subjects.

Now these songs are collected on her CD "A Baker's Dozen". These songs by Laura and her friends are fun for the inner 5 year old in all of us.

Take a listen and be sure and sing a long.

What a great collection of kids sings. If you looked at the topics they cover (healthy food, compost, maths) it could all end up like eating cardboard flavoured cereal but in Laura Freeman's hands it becomes an exuberant romp.

  • Now Hear THIS!

ok, lets get down about Laura Freemans CD, ok? I ordered it because I wanted her newest one, and its not out yet!...and so - I had it mailed to my favorite 2 1/2 year old, Mr. Mark Davidson. We went to the farm in Clinton, La. and presented Mr. Mark with this CD. THEN WE SPENT THE NEXT TWO HOURS watching Mark dance and sing and explode with excitement over the songs conatained therein! (yea Laura!) During the song about making music with anything....Mr. Mark had a couple of spoons, and also wanted his juice, but could only strain his mouth toward the cup because he simply would NOT let go of the spoons in order to pick up the cup! Our only problem moment came during the song about the dog who wanted the bear's coat (because he is cold) and so the bear eats the dog and then the dog is warm....Mark kept trilling...."what is HAPPENING?!...what is HAPPENING?" Understand, Marks parents operate the Black Bear Conservation Association of Louisiana., and raise bear-containing dogs...so this is a secial issue in the household. I would like to say thank you to Laura Freeman....for making a little boy's life so wonderful. Everyone with little kids needs this CD!!!!!!!! Big Thais (Perkins) Zachary, La, 70791

  • Energetic and full of giggle-making stuff!

Our grandson gets (and gives) contagious giggles whenever he hears Banana, banana, banana... The originality in these songs is fantastic--and the kids learn them so easily. Great for sing-along and for dancing around the kitchen floor!

  • Great songs, lots of energy!

These songs relay youthful energy about relavent topics to chidren. My kids love Laura's spunk and sing along ever time. Truthfully, so do I! Way to go!

My grade two students LOVE this CD! After listening to it for a second time, they were already singing and dancing along. We have been studying small, crawling and flying creatures. Laura's Creepy Crawlers song was a perfect fit!

  • Kids love singing along--great lyrics.
    author: Courtney Egan

This CD is alot of fun for kids and adults. We gave it to our nieces and they suddenly seemed to know all the words to the songs, and loved singing them. The catchy lyrics are about being a kid, having fun, and learning to have wonder and respect for the world around you. A definite crowdpleaser.
